Fish Oil Helps Teenage Boys Fight Depression

Japanese researchers have discovered yet another benefit to fish oil — treatment for depression. According to a study out of the University of Tokyo, teenage boys who eat a lot of oily fish have a 27 percent reduced risk of depression compared to those who eat little oily fish.

Fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids like EPA and DHA offer numerous benefits to both body and brain health, and the new study indicates that these oils may also play a valuable role in preventing and treating depression.

Kentaro Murakami and his colleagues analyzed 6,500 Japanese junior high students between the ages of 12 and 15. Nearly a quarter of boys had initial symptoms of depression and about a third of girls had symptoms. After considering various life factors and dietary practices, the team discovered that the less oily fish boys ate, the more likely they were to have depression symptoms. They did not observe the same benefit in girls.

However several other studies have indicated that fish oil plays an important role in the mental health of both sexes, including a 1999 study in the Archives of General Psychiatry which found that manic-depressive patients who supplement with fish oil experience overall improvements in mental health.

“Fish oil…appears to be very good stuff for the brain and behavior, which makes sense because omega-3 fatty acids have a critical role in brain development and functioning, including promoting the growth of neurons in the frontal cortex. Fish oil has been shown in a series of studies by Andrew Stoll at Harvard to ease the symptoms of bipolar disorder and depression,” explains Charles Barber in his book Comfortably Numb: How Psychiatry Is Medicating a Nation.

Dow Falls Below 10,000 As Worries Escalate

Stocks were lower for a fifth straight day Wednesday amid worries about the economic recovery but pared losses amid gains in homebuilders, tech and some consumer names.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down about 20 points, reclaiming 10,000. Earlier, the blue-chip index had fallen below that level. This came after a four-day losing streak in which the Dow lost a total of 3.6 percent.

Caterpillar [CAT  64.10  -0.94  (-1.45%)   ], Disney and Bank of America led the index laggards while Home Depot and McDonald’s were among the gainers.

The CBOE volatility index, widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, was above 27.

Disney[DIS  31.66  -0.48  (-1.49%)   ] shares fell 1 percent following news that the company is in talks with Apple [AAPL  239.10  -0.83  (-0.35%)   ] about renting TV shows to viewers for 99 cents each through iTunes.

Dell [DELL  11.746  0.161  (+1.39%)   ] shares rose following news that Hewlett-Packard [HPQ  38.4106  0.0206  (+0.05%)   ] has begun talks with 3Par. HP is offering $24 a share for the data-storage company, which trumps Dell’s $18-a-share offer by a wide margin. There has been some speculation that Dell might raise its offer.

Internet stocks are among the few bright spots on the board today, with Google and eBay both higher. Wireless stocks are also higher, with Motorola, Leap and Qualcomm all higher.

In other merger news, Rio Tinto [RTP  47.90  -0.03  (-0.06%)   ] is apparently not planning a bid for Potash [POT  145.6025  -3.5075  (-2.35%)   ]. The Canadian fertilizer maker is said to be seeking alternative offers to the $130-a-share offer from BHP Billiton [BHP  64.93  -0.49  (-0.75%)   ]. For its part, BHP slapped down speculation, that it would make a higher bid.

On the economic front, new-home sales dropped 12.4 percent to a 276,000 annual rate in July after a 12.1-percent increase in June.

This followed a dismal housing report on Tuesday that showed existing-home sales fell 27.2 percent last month to their lowest pace in 15 years.

Investors were piling into homebuilder stocks, with many up 2 and 3 percent, following several research notes yesterday, including one from Citigroup, that now may be the time to get in on housing stocks. KBHome [KBH  10.35  0.31  (+3.09%)   ] and Toll Brothers [TOL  16.89  0.70  (+4.32%)   ] were both up about 4 percent. Earlier, Toll Brothers reported it swung to a profit, helped by tax benefits.

American Eagle shares [AEO  13.36  0.87  (+6.97%)   ] jumped more than 6 percent even after the teen retailer reported lower earnings as high inventories fueled discounting.

A few consumer names were also higher, including Home Depot [HD  28.05  0.27  (+0.97%)   ], Starbucks [SBUX  23.11  0.29  (+1.27%)   ] and JCPenney [JCP  20.44  -0.13  (-0.63%)   ].

And in the morning’s other economic news, orders for durable goods, big-ticket items like refrigerators and cars, rose 0.3 percent but fell well short of the 2.8-percent increase expected. Excluding transportation, orders fell 3.8 percent.

Talk of a double-dip recession has accelerated in recent weeks, with Gluskin Sheff economist David Rosenberg going so far as to say this is a depression, not a recession.

But several market pros in the past few days have offered a counterpoint, saying they don’t think the signs of worsening are there.

“We’ve got a very soft economy—it’s a constant disappointment, but we don’t think we’re going to have a double-dip because the most cyclical sectors of the economy are already in the basement,” David Kelly, chief market strategist at JPMorgan Funds, said on CNBC.

Strategist David Kass, founder and president of Seabreeze partners, agrees.

“I just can’t be that negative right now,” Kass said. “If you look at cyclical areas of the economy … It’s hard for me to expect material economic weakness in the second half of this year and into 2011,” said Kass, founder and president of Seabreeze Partners.

Meanwhile, central bankers, economists and other officials from around the world headed to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to assess the economic outlook at the Federal Reserve’s annual retreat.

Crude oil fell toward $71 a barrel after a report showed a 4.1-million barrel jump in crude supplies, more than double of what was expected. Retail gasoline prices are also falling heading into the Labor Day holiday, with the national average around $2.70 a gallon.

Gold rose to an eight-week high above $1,240 an ounce as the dollar fell against the euro and economic concerns fueled interest in the metal as a safe haven. Gold miners including Barrick Gold [ABX  45.00  1.22  (+2.79%)   ] and Newmont Mining [NEM  58.37  1.25  (+2.19%)   ] rose more than 2 percent.

FedEx [FDX  78.03  -1.06  (-1.34%)   ] shares dropped about 2 percent following news that the package-delivery giant is suing New York attorney general Andrew Cuomo, seeking to stop an investigation of the company. The company said Cuomo has exceeded his authority in seeking information on rates, routes, and price information.

Economy Caught In Depression, Not Recession

Positive gross domestic product readings and other mildly hopeful signs are masking an ugly truth: The US economy is in a 1930s-style Depression, Gluskin Sheff economist David Rosenberg said Tuesday.

Writing in his daily briefing to investors, Rosenberg said the Great Depression also had its high points, with a series of positive GDP reports and sharp stock market gains.

But then as now, those signs of recovery were unsustainable and only provided a false sense of stability, said Rosenberg.

Rosenberg calls current economic conditions “a depression, and not just some garden-variety recession,” and notes that any good news both during the initial 1929-33 recession and the one that began in 2008 triggered “euphoric response.”

“Such is human nature and nobody can be blamed for trying to be optimistic; however, in the money management business, we have a fiduciary responsibility to be as realistic as possible about the outlook for the economy and the market at all times,” he said.

The 1929-33 recession saw six quarterly bounces in GDP with an average gain of 8 percent, sending the stock market to a 50 percent rally in early 1930 as investors thought the worst had passed.

“False premise,” Rosenberg said. “And guess what? We may well be reliving history here. If you’re keeping score, we have recorded four quarterly advances in real GDP, and the average is only 3%.”

Rosenberg’s warning comes as a slew of major analysts—Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan among them—have slashed GDP projections for 2010 to the 1.5 to 2 percent range.

Chicago Federal Reserve President Charles Evans said in a speech Tuesday that the risk of a double-dip recession has escalated. He said government programs to help distressed homeowners have been ineffective and aren’t helping the pivotal housing sector recover.

The dour outlooks come on the same day that the National Association of Realtors said home sales reached a 15-year low in June, dousing hopes that the industry had reached a bottoming point.

Rosenberg points out that the “overall economic malaise” has come despite aggressive efforts by the Federal Reserve to stimulate the economy through rate cuts. The central bank itself has scaled back its economic projections, has held steady on its balance sheet, and could be announcing another round of quantitative easing measures at its Jackson Hole summit this week.

“How’s that for a reality check,” Rosenberg said. “It’s not too late, by the way, to shift course if you have stayed long this market.”

Pre-Crime Technology In The Works

Law enforcement agencies in Washington D.C. have begun to use technology that they say can predict when crimes will be committed and who will commit them, before they actually happen.

The Minority Report like pre-crime software has been developed by Richard Berk, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

Previous incarnations of the software, already being used in Baltimore and Philadelphia were limited to predictions of murders by and among parolees and offenders on probation.

According to a report by ABC News, however, the latest version, to be implemented in Washington D.C., can predict other future crimes as well.

“When a person goes on probation or parole they are supervised by an officer. The question that officer has to answer is ‘what level of supervision do you provide?’” Berk told ABC News, intimating that the program could have a bearing on the length of sentences and/or bail amounts.

The technology sifts through a database of thousands of crimes and uses algorithms and different variables, such as geographical location, criminal records and ages of previous offenders, to come up with predictions of where, when, and how a crime could possibly be committed and by who.

The program operates without any direct evidence that a crime will be committed, it simply takes datasets and computes possibilities.

“People assume that if someone murdered then they will murder in the future,” Berk also states, “But what really matters is what that person did as a young individual. If they committed armed robbery at age 14 that’s a good predictor. If they committed the same crime at age 30, that doesn’t predict very much.”

Critics have urged that the program encourages categorizing individuals on a risk scale via computer mathematics, rather than on real life, and that monitoring those people based on such a premise is antithetic to a justice system founded on the premise of the presumption of innocence.

Other police departments and law agencies across the country have begun to look into and use similar predictive technologies. The Memphis Police Department, for example uses a program called Operation Blue CRUSH, which uses predictive analytics developed by IBM.

Other forms of pre-crime technology in use or under development include surveillance cameras that can predict when a crime is about to occur and alert police, and even neurological brain scanners that can read people’s intentions before they act, thus detecting whether or not a person has “hostile intent”.

It is not too far fetched to imagine all these forms of the technology being used together in the future by law enforcement bodies.

The British government has previously debated introducing pre-crime laws in the name of fighting terrorism. The idea was that suspects would be put on trial using MI5 or MI6 intelligence of an expected terror attack. This would be enough to convict if found to be true “on the balance of probabilities”, rather than “beyond reasonable doubt”.

The government even has plans to collect lifelong records on all residents starting at the age of five, in order to screen for those who might be more likely to commit crimes in the future.

Another disturbing possibility for such technology comes in the form of a financial alliance of sorts between Internet search engine giant Google and the investment arm of the CIA and the wider U.S. intelligence network.

Google and In-Q-Tel have recently injected a sum of up to $10 million each into a company called Recorded Future, which uses analytics to scour Twitter accounts, blogs and websites for all sorts of information, which is used to “assemble actual real-time dossiers on people.”

The company describes its analytics as “the ultimate tool for open-source intelligence” and says it can also “predict the future”.

Recorded Future takes in vast amounts of personal information such as employment changes, personal education and family relations. Promotional material also shows categories covering pretty much everything else, including entertainment, music and movie releases, as well as other innocuous things like patent filings and product recalls.

Those detached from any kind of moral reality will say “If you’ve got nothing to hide then what is the problem with being scanned for pre-crime? If it keeps us all safe from murderers, rapists and terrorists I’m all for it”.

CIA Sees Increased Threat From al-Qaeda

For the first time since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, CIA analysts see one of al-Qaeda’s offshoots – rather than the core group now based in Pakistan – as the most urgent threat to U.S. security, officials said.

The sober new assessment of al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen has helped prompt senior Obama administration officials to call for an escalation of U.S. operations there – including a proposal to add armed CIA drones to a clandestine campaign of U.S. military strikes, the officials said.

“We are looking to draw on all of the capabilities at our disposal,” said a senior Obama administration official, who described plans for “a ramp-up over a period of months.”

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters, stressed that that analysts continue to see al-Qaeda and its allies in the tribal areas of Pakistan as supremely dangerous adversaries. The officials insisted there would be no letup in their pursuit of Osama bin Laden and other senior figures thought to be hiding in Pakistan.

Indeed, officials said it was largely because al-Qaeda has been decimated by Predator strikes in Pakistan that the franchise in Yemen has emerged as a more potent threat. A CIA strike killed a group of al-Qaeda operatives in Yemen in 2002, but officials said the agency has not had that capability on the peninsula for several years.

“We see al-Qaeda as having suffered major losses, unable to replenish ranks and recover at a pace that would keep them on offense,” said a senior U.S. official familiar with the CIA’s assessments.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, as its Yemen-based group is called, is “on the upswing,” the official said. “The relative concern ratios are changing. We’re more concerned now about AQAP than we were before.”

Al-Qaeda in Yemen is seen as more agile and aggressive, officials said. It took the group just a few months to set in motion a plot that succeeded in getting an alleged suicide bomber aboard a Detroit-bound airliner on Christmas Day.

More important, officials cited the role of Anwar al-Aulaqi, an American-born cleric whose command of English and militant ambition have helped transform the Yemen organization into a transnational threat.

Philip Mudd, a former senior official at the CIA and the FBI, argues in a forthcoming article that the threat of a Sept. 11-style attack has been supplanted by a proliferation of plots by AQAP and other affiliates. “The sheer numbers . . . suggest that one of the plots in the United States will succeed,” he writes in the latest issue of CTC Sentinel, a publication of the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. In the future, he said, “the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region will not be the sole, or even primary, source of bombing suspects.”

U.S. officials said the administration’s plans to escalate operations in Yemen reflect two aims: improving U.S. intelligence in Yemen and adding new options for carrying out strikes when a target is found.

The CIA has roughly 10 times more people and resources in Pakistan than it does in Yemen. There is no plan to scale back in Pakistan, but officials said the gap is expected to shrink.

Details of the plans to expand operations in Yemen have been discussed in recent weeks among deputies on the National Security Council at the White House, officials said. According to one participant, the talks are not about whether the CIA should replace the U.S. military in its leading operational role in Yemen, but “what’s the proper mix.”

Although the CIA has expanded the number of case officers collecting intelligence in Yemen over the past year, officials said the agency has not deployed Predator drones or other means of carrying out lethal strikes.

Instead, attacks over the past eight months have been the result of secret military collaboration between Yemen and the United States.

U.S. Special Operations troops have helped train Yemeni forces and helped them to execute raids. A senior U.S. military official said the United States has not used armed drones in Yemen, mainly because they are more urgently needed in the war zones of Afghanistan and Iraq. As a result, intermittent strikes on al-Qaeda targets have involved cruise missiles and other weapon that are less precise.

An airstrike on a suspected gathering of al-Qaeda operatives in Marib province on May 25 involved a cruise missile launched from a U.S. naval vessel. Among those killed was the deputy governor in the province, who was reportedly seeking to persuade the militants to give up their arms. The human rights group Amnesty International later said it found evidence that U.S. cluster munitions were used in the attack.

Proponents of expanding the CIA’s role argue that years of flying armed drones over Pakistan have given the agency expertise in identifying targets and delivering pinpoint strikes. The agency’s attacks also leave fewer telltale signs.

“You’re not going to find bomb parts with USA markings on them,” the senior U.S. official said. Even so, the official said, the administration is considering sending CIA drones to the Arabian Peninsula “not because they require the deniability but because they desire the capability.”

A senior Yemeni official indicated that the government would not welcome CIA drones. “I don’t think we will ever consider it,” the official said. “The situation in Yemen is different than in Afghanistan or Pakistan. It is still under control.”

Introducing a covert CIA capability might also improve the U.S. ability to carry out attacks – perhaps from a U.S. base in Djibouti – if the Yemeni government were to curtail its cooperation.

That relationship is “in as positive a place as we’ve been for some time,” the senior administration official said. But, he added, “we always have to be in a position where we are able to protect our own interests should that be necessary.”

The concern about al-Qaeda in Yemen is remarkable considering that the group was all but stamped out on the peninsula just a few years ago and is known more for near-misses than successful, spectacular attacks.

Indeed, some government intelligence analysts outside the CIA argued that it would be wrong to conclude that al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen has eclipsed the organization’s core.

“We still do view al-Qaeda core as they view themselves,” a senior U.S. counterterrorism analyst said, “which is the vanguard of the jihad, providing a lot of global direction and guidance.”

Even under constant pressure from Predator attacks, al-Qaeda has proven remarkably resilient. Officials also stressed that it is surrounded by other militant groups in Pakistan that share its violent aims.

The U.S. citizen who planted a failed bomb at Times Square earlier this year, for example, said he had been trained by the Pakistani Taliban.

But concern about AQAP has risen sharply in the aftermath of the failed Christmas Day attack.

U.S. officials cited recent indications that AQAP has shared its chemical bomb-making technology with other militant organizations, including Somalia-based al-Shabab.

Because Yemen is an Arab country and the ancestral home of bin Laden, some analysts fear that it could be more difficult to dislodge al-Qaeda there than in Pakistan.

Officials acknowledged that since a military strike missed Aulaqi in December, they have had few clues on his whereabouts. Aulaqi has been linked to three plots in the United States, and his presence has further radicalized his peers.

“The other leaders of AQAP are predominantly Yemenis and Saudis, and their worldview and focus is on the peninsula,” said the senior U.S. counterterrorism official. Aulaqi “brings a world view and focus that brings it back here to the U.S. homeland.”

Top Secret X-37B Shuttle Disappears For Two Weeks

AMATEUR astronomers are enjoying a cat-and-mouse game with the US military in keeping track of its secret space plane, the X-37B.

The X-37B was launched in April amid much publicity, but scant detail about its true use.

Built by Boeing’s Phantom Works division, the X-37B program was originally headed by NASA.

It was later turned over to the Pentagon’s research and development arm and then to a secretive Air Force unit.

Only a very select few in the US military know what it’s for, but observers on Earth believe they’re putting together the puzzle piece by piece.

Several sources claim quote arms control advocates who say it’s clearly the beginning of the “weaponisation of space”.

In May, avid skywatcher Ted Molczan studied the X-37B’s orbit from his home in Toronto and said its behaviour suggested it was testing sensors for a range of new spy satellites.

Since then, the X-37B been arguably the least-secret secret project on the planet, as fellow backyard astronomers joined in the scrutiny, aided by how-to video guides and apps such as the Simple Satellite Tracker.

That is, they did until July 29, when the shuttle disappeared, causing all kinds of consternation and conspiracy theories about its fate.

It took amateur skywatcher Greg Roberts of Cape Town, South Africa, who noticed that it failed to appear as scheduled above his base on August 14, another five days to find it.

When he did, he noticed it was some 30km higher and on a different trajectory, according to calculations from other colleagues in Rome and Oklahoma.

The X-37B’s new track takes it on a six-day orbit of the Earth, as opposed to its original four-day orbit.

Mr Molczan believes this may be another small piece to the puzzle about what role the shuttle may play in US military operations.

“This small change of orbit may have been a test of OTV-1′s manoeuvring system, or a requirement of whatever payload may be aboard, or both,” he said in a release paper about Roberts’ X-37B find.

The shuttle has been in orbit now for 124 days. It uses a solar array once in space for power, which theoretically will allow it to stay airborne for up to 270 days.

But the additional presence of large fuel tanks and a rocket motor allows it to change orbit, as evidenced by the latest sudden change of course.

According to the The Register, this is a key component of its surveillance-related capabilities, along with the fact it can land in a much more versatile fashion than other shuttles.

Using its “cross-range” wings, it can duck off elsewhere once its entered the Earth’s atmosphere rather than follow its oribital track to a pre-specified landing pad.

This means the X-37B can get up and down from space in one orbit, as its wings allow it to compensate for the slight turn in the Earth and bend it back to its original launch pad.

The Register says that capability would make it difficult to track, as it would only pass over a region once.

Theoretically, it could drop a spy satellite on one run, then pick it up on the next without the satellite having ever been detected.

Other observers claim the X-37B can carry a payload roughly the size of a medium-sized truck bed, or enough to hold a spy satellite.

According to the Pentagon, a second X-37B is under construction, so expect the guessing game to continue for some time about what the US military is really up to in space.

Until now, all that remains known about the X-37B is that is it has at least one trick – the ability to hide from skywatchers for two weeks.

ith the overhyped H1N1 swine flu scare which was fanned into a flaming fear fest by WHO advisors on the take from vaccine manufacturers. Now we’re getting a new round of fear-mongering from many of the same sources who are warning us about salmonella contaminated eggs.

According to mainstream news sources, a massive 380-million-egg recall has been announced, and these eggs are all so incredibly dangerous that you have to immediately remove them from your refrigerator and take them back to the store where you bought them so that they can be properly destroyed. This is all backed up by phrases like, “It’s not worth the risk,” and claims that if people eat the eggs, they are taking “too much of a chance.”

Pretty scary, huh?

What they’re not telling you is that more than 80 percent of the chicken meat bought at grocery stores is consistently contaminated with the exact same salmonella. A more recent study conducted by Consumers Union found that two-thirds of grocery store chickens are contaminated every day!

But you don’t hear warnings to “take your chicken back to the store!” or “it’s unsafe to eat your chicken!” Ever wonder why?

Or to phrase the question another way, why is salmonella so dangerous on your eggs, but completely safe on your chicken?

The answer is it’s not. It’s the exact same risk in both cases: Cook either one and you destroy salmonella entirely. Infected eggs are no more dangerous than infected chicken, and infected chicken is apparently so safe that it’s sold every single day at your neighborhood grocery store (without any warnings or alarms, I might add). Nobody at the FDA has even mentioned it is recent memory. Salmonella contaminated chicken is apparently a non-issue.

The Real Reason For The Salmonella Scare

Now, here’s the real reason why the issue of chicken contaminated with salmonella is almost never publicized: Because to expose the salmonella contamination of chicken would be to expose the sick, filthy and inhumane practices of the factory-farmed conventional chicken industry.

And the (non-organic) chicken industry doesn’t want anyone to start looking into its practices because its practices are just too disgusting for most people to stomach. You might lose your (chicken McNugget) lunch, and then you’d probably stop buying chicken. They can’t have that.

So chicken meat gets a free pass: It’s okay with the FDA, the CDC and the USDA that Americans are buying salmonella contamination every single day as long as it’s in the form of a piece of chicken flesh.

Why, then, are contaminated eggs being flagged as so dangerous? To answer that, you have to go back to a story I wrote in 2008 called, “FDA Unleashes Mass Irradiation of Spinach, Lettuce and Other Vegetables”

There, following the FDA’s demands that spinach and lettuce be irradiated, I explained the FDA’s real agenda: “Don’t think the FDA will stop with spinach and lettuce, either. They’re already talking about irradiating tomatoes, peppers and onions. Before long, radiation could become mandatory for ALL fresh produce…”

It’s already happened with almonds, which must now be fumigated or pasteurized in the United States — a punitive rule that has severely damaged the U.S. almond industry. That took place after an outbreak of contamination with almonds. Similarly, this recent egg contamination fiasco is giving the FDA precisely the excuse it needs to demand routine pasteurization or irradiation of all eggs. Meanwhile, salmonella-contaminated chicken will be utterly ignored by the FDA even as it calls for the mass-pasteurization of “dangerous” eggs.

The FDA, you see, will seize upon each contamination event as a leverage point from which to ratchet up its food sterilization agenda, and the agency won’t stop until every scrap of fresh food sold at grocery stores is either pasteurized, fumigated or irradiated.

Only then will the FDA’s true agenda of food control be fully realized. (Insert evil genius laughter here.) And this plan of course involves outlawing all raw milk, raw almonds, raw spinach, raw eggs and anything else that might be living. Hence the recent ramping up of criminal arrests and prosecutions against raw milk producers and living food coops.

The only safe food is dead food according to the FDA. And they’re going to make sure your food is as dead as possible by exploiting these hyped-up food emergencies as leverage points from which to assert their “dead foods agenda.”

The punch line to all this should be obvious by now: Dead foods lead to dead people. When a population is denied access to health-enhancing living foods (raw foods), its health begins to deteriorate. This of course create a financial windfall for the pharmaceutical industry that thrives on suffering and disease. (More vaccines, anyone?)

In other words, keeping the food sterilized means keeping the people diseased. And keeping the people diseased means keeping the sick-care industry rolling in easy cash. There’s nothing like a little sickness to remind people to keep taking their pills, after all…

Don’t think that this egg recall has anything to do with protecting the health of consumers. Cigarettes kill hundreds of thousands of people a year and they’re perfectly legal to sell. Even toxic chemical food ingredients like MSG, aspartame and sodium nitrite remain perfectly legal, too. If the FDA cared about protecting people from dangerous foods, it would have banned disease-causing ingredients long ago. But instead, the agency going after your raw milk, raw eggs, raw spinach and raw almonds.

What does that tell you about the FDA’s real intent?
