Why You Should Avoid Pork

If you’re at all familiar with the Bible you’ll probably remember that in it God specifically instructed His people not to eat pork and shellfish. Many people are surprised to find this out, but in the Old Testament God warned us that the pig was an unclean animal–a scavenger and not to be eaten (Check out Leviticus 11).

No matter how you think about it, pigs are a rather dirty animal. They are considered the scavengers of the farm (created to eliminate any waste on the farm), often eating anything they can find. This includes not only bugs, insects, and whatever leftover scraps they find laying around, but also their own feces, as well as the dead carcasses of sick animals, including their own young.

This in itself can explain why the meat of the pig can be so dirty or at the very least not so appetizing to consume. And while being ‘grossed out’ may or may not be a valid reason not to eat something it’s vital to understand a bit more about pork before reaching your own conclusion.

Pork 101: Know the Facts

Pork is one of the most consumed meats in the world. China is the largest producer of pigs that were first domesticated way back around 7500 B.C.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that more than 100 viruses come to the United States each year from China through pigs. There are some obvious concerns about this. Aside from not needing more viruses to fight off, some of these viruses can prove to be downright dangerous to humans.

Of course, you’re probably familiar with H1N1, better known as ‘the swine flu.” This too is a virus that has made the leap from pig to human.

But H1N1 is not the only disease to fear from the pig. There are other sicknesses you can get from eating the meat of the pig.

Pork meat is loaded with toxins, more so than most other meats like beef and chicken.

Is Pork Meat Toxic?

There are reasons that the meat of the pig becomes more saturated with toxins than many of its counterpart farm animals. The first reason has to do with the digestive system of a pig.

A pig digests whatever it eats rather quickly, in up to about four hours. On the other hand a cow takes a good twenty-four hours to digest what it’s eaten. During the digestive process, animals (including humans) get rid of excess toxins as well as other components of the food eaten that could be dangerous to health.

Since the pig’s digestive system operates rather basically, many of these toxins remain in their system to be stored in their more than adequate fatty tissues ready for our consumption.

Another issue with the pig is that it doesn’t have any sweat glands. Sweat glands are a tool the body uses to be rid of toxins. This leaves more toxins in the pig’s body.

I don’t have to tell you that when you consume pork meat, you too are getting all these toxins that weren’t eliminated from the pig. None of us need more toxins in our systems. In fact we should all be doing what we can to eliminate and cut down on toxin exposure. One vital way to do this is by choosing what you eat carefully.

Trichinellosis, Pork Meat, and Your Health

Did you know that pigs carry a variety of parasites in their bodies and meat? Some of these parasites are difficult to kill even when cooking. This is the reason there are so many warnings out there about eating undercooked pork.

One of the biggest concerns with eating pork meat is trichinellosis or trichinosis. This is an infection that humans get from eating undercooked or uncooked pork that contains the larvae of the trichinella worm.

This worm parasite is very commonly found in pork. When the worm, most often living in cysts in the stomach, opens through stomach acids, its larvae are released into the body of the pig. These new worms make their homes in the muscles of the pig. Next stop? The unknowing human body who consumes this infected meat flesh.

And while no one particularly wants to consume worms, trichinellosis is a serious illness that you should do virtually anything to avoid.

Common Symptoms of Trichinellosis:

Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Headache
Fever
Chills
Cough
Swollen eyes
Muscle pain
Aching joints
Coordination problems
Heart issues
Breathing problems

These symptoms of trichinellosis can really put you out of the game for quite a while. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) these symptoms can last for weeks and in more serious cases months on end.

The CDC recommends thorough cooking of pork as well as freezing the pork meat prior to cooking to kill off any worms. I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel good about eating anything that I first have to kill off its worms to eat.

In fact, it’s been theorized that trichinellosis is the exact cause of Mozart’s rather sudden death at age 35. An American researcher theorized this after studying all the documents recording the days before, during, and after Mozart’s death. He found that Mozart suffered many of the above listed symptoms and he, himself, had recorded in his journal the consumption of pork just forty-four days before his own death.

(If you want to read more on this intriguing story you can find it in the Archives of Internal Medicine’s June 2001 issue.)

But that’s not all….

Pigs carry many viruses and parasites with them. Whether by coming in direct contact with them through farms or by eating their meat we put ourselves at higher risk of getting one of these painful, often debilitating diseases (not to mention put our bodies on toxic overload.)

Pigs are primary carriers of:

Taenia solium tapeworm
Hepatitis E virus (HEV)
PRRS (Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome)
Nipah virus
Menangle virus
Each of these parasites and viruses can lead to serious health problems that can last for years to come.

What you choose to eat is up to you. Myself, I choose to stay away from unclean pork (and shellfish.) The reasons discussed here are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to eating pigs and your health.

Do your own research, carefully consider what the Bible so many years ago warned us about, then make your own educated decision about what you choose to feed yourself and your loved ones.

4 Dangerous (and Common) Vitamin Fillers You Must Avoid

Despite the decline in health today, the supplement industry is a billion dollar a year business (topping in at $6 billion in 2008.) You would think that with so many Americans spending their hard earned money on one type of supplement or another, chronic disease would be on the decline. Sadly, the rate of chronic disease continues to climb each year.

So what’s going on here? Americans are gulping down the vitamins but our health remains in a crisis mode. Some of these vitamins may not be the answer to our health problems and maybe some of these vitamins are actually contributing to our state of declining health.

Do you take a daily vitamin? Are you having your kids take vitamins on a regular basis? Let’s explore a bit more about what we’re really putting into our bodies and learn how to make informed choices so you spend your money on supplements that are actually good for you.

Fillers Found in Vitamins

Before we get into the specific five dangerous vitamin fillers let’s talk about fillers in general with supplements. Supplement manufacturers often add in a variety of fillers to their vitamin and mineral supplements for numerous reasons:

Easier and faster production
More appealing to the eye (colorants)
Easier to swallow (coatings)

The reasons for using fillers aside, the real problem lies in how these fillers impact your body and health. Simply put, it’s not good. Just like processed foods being loaded with additives and fillers, the same goes for vitamins. Any supplement that has additives and fillers will be harmful to your health in the same way those processed foods are.

The body doesn’t need or want these ingredients so don’t put them in there. They also block the absorption of nutrients. Now let’s get to the specific problems with certain dangerous fillers.

Dangerous Filler #1: Hydrogenated Oils

That’s right, hydrogenated oils are added to vitamins. These are the same hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils I’ve told you to avoid in the foods you eat. These are the oils found in many bakery products as well as highly processed, nutritionally devoid foods.

In fact, it’s been found that partially hydrogenated soybean oil is one of the major fillers in the majority of vitamins sold on the market today.

Partially hydrogenated (and hydrogenated) oils damage the body in numerous ways. They encourage heart problems, strokes, nervous system problems, block the absorption of essential fatty acids, upset blood sugar regulation and more.

You don’t want these in your food and it’s certainly not a good idea to have them in your vitamins.

Dangerous Filler #2: Artificial Colors

Artificial colors are being added to vitamins too. Artificial colors have been linked to problems from cancer to hyperactivity in children. These colors are added to vitamins to make them more appealing to the consumer in hopes this will encourage the sale.

Some of these artificial colors are derived from toxic coal tar. Coal tar is used for a variety of purposes some of which are roofing, outdoor sealants, exterior paints, heating…the list goes on but nothing on the list would indicate in any way that you should consume coal tar.

Dangerous Filler #3: Magnesium Stearate

This is one of the most controversial topics in the supplement world today. Many argue that this toxic ingredient shouldn’t be added to vitamins and is of serious health consequence. On the other side some say that it has not been proven by the scientific community to cause serious health problems in humans – yet.

Again, I urge you to remember that many times the science to back what we suspect can lag behind. It’s vital to make your own informed choices. When it comes to magnesium stearate you should know a few facts.

Magnesium stearate is used as a lubricant so that the vitamins don’t stick to one another or the equipment being used. This is the sole reason that magnesium stearate is used in vitamins.

The controversy surrounds a few studies on magnesium stearate. One study links this compound to creating a suppressed immune system. Other studies show that this ‘chalk’ will create a biofilm in the body. This biofilm blocks the body from absorbing any of the needed nutrients.

(This is yet another reason why you should rely on whole food sources for nutrients.)

Dangerous Filler #4: Titanium Dioxide

Titanium oxide is a naturally occurring oxide of the element titanium. This widely used mineral is used in vitamins as a pigment. It is also used for this same reason in many cosmetics.

However the research is now showing that exposure to this metal (along with other metals) can lead to problems with the immune function in the body.

If you’re taking a vitamin to improve your health why would you even consider taking one with such a filler as this (or any of the others?) Clearly this is an unnecessary, unhealthy filler ingredient used by the huge vitamin producers in order to sell more of these low quality vitamins.

Choosing Whole Food Vitamin Supplements

When it comes to supplements there are some that are better than others. Steer away from the mass produced vitamins by huge conglomerates (often owned by pharmaceutical companies) and opt for smaller operations that you learn about first.

Look for a company with a philosophy that reflects their genuine interest in improving the health of the nation. Companies exist, do your homework and find one you trust for all of your supplement needs.

I use Garden of Life products like their Raw Vitamin C [2] and Raw Vitamin D [3] supplements. These supplements are made from real whole foods and will provide the body with a source of nutrients much closer to the ones straight from nature. Your body will recognize and use these nutrients much better than any synthetic ones in the form of these filler laden vitamins.

Read this recent article on multi-vitamins [4] and choosing the right multi-vitamin for you.

Vitamins are No Substitute for a Healthy Diet

There’s no doubt about it no matter how high quality your vitamin or mineral supplement is it’s simply no match for eating straight from nature the way God intended. There’s a reason they are called supplements.

Eating a whole food diet full of fresh, raw, and local foods is the best way to improve health and fight off disease no matter what. There’s no substitute for the original source.

Shine A Little Light On Me

It seems like every month there is a new report that comes out about the health effects of vitamin D deficiency. Last week it was reported that studies by the Journal of the American Medical Association AND the University of Oxford have both put evidence behind the fact that Multiple Sclerosis may be caused by a lack of vitamin D. And last month it was reported that a mega-dose of vitamin D may help prevent breast cancer and other diseases.

That is why I believe that Vitamin D3 is something that you should be taking every single day

The health benefits of vitamin D3 are very well documented.  The prevention of illness and disease is amazing.  Remember, illness and disease is always, always prevented by strong nutrition.  If you have nutritional deficiencies, you will absolutely develop illness and disease.

And this is Kevin Trudeau, the non-doctor.  I am not a medical doctor and have no medical training.  This is one man’s opinion.  I’m exercising my First Amendment constitutional rights.

Personally, I take 5,000 international units of vitamin D3 every day, minimum, and when I travel, I’ll up it to as high as 25,000 and even 30,000 just to be on the safe side.  I try to spread that out throughout the day though.  I also try to be in the sun as often as I can, and even when I’m in the sun, I’ll still take a minimum of 5,000.  BUT that’s just me.

Because I believe so highly in this subject, as a subscriber to my Insider Email Club, I have made it so you can get this vital product FREE for life! All you have to do is pay shipping & handling.

David Axelrod On Sanctioning Secretly Funded Groups: It’s Not Healthy ‘But It’s The System We Have’

May 9, 2011 by Andrew

The Huffington Post

By: Sam Stein

David Axelrod, the president’s senior communications adviser, spent much of the 2010 election cycle warning against the rise of anonymously funded, conservative non-government groups, going so far as to frame them as a threat to democracy itself.

On Sunday, he blessed the emergence of those same organizations on the Democratic side of the aisle, calling it a bitter but necessary pill to swallow for both the party and campaign finance reformers.

“Let’s be clear,” Axelrod said on “Meet the Press.” “This independent group that was formed was formed in response to the ones that spent hundreds of millions of dollars in the last campaign to defeat Democratic candidates [with] undisclosed, large contributions. And we tried to pass a law [the DISCLOSE Act] through the Congress that would force … all groups to disclose who was giving them the money so the public could see. It got 59 Democratic votes in the United States Senate, 41 Republicans blocked it. And so, of course, now there’s a reaction to what happened, because Democrats are sitting there saying, ‘We can’t play under two sets of rules.’ … We should walk down to Capitol Hill and urge them to pass the law and that will govern both Republicans and Democrats and everybody will be playing under one set of rules.”

“I don’t think this is healthy,” he added. “I don’t think this is good. But it is the system we have. And you can’t expect one side to operate under one set of rules and the other side to operate under another.”

The idea that Democrats are leaning on outside government groups as a response to being flooded by them in 2010 does, in some respect, ignore the massive amounts of money union groups put into those midterm races. For campaign finance reform advocates — chief among them former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) — it also strikes a poor strategic note: forfeiting the political advantages that come with the moral high ground.

But for the White House and allied officials and campaign committees, it’s not all that difficult a decision. The potential to run tens of millions of dollars worth of television ads attacking Republican candidates is obviously alluring. But so is the capacity to sustain a major opposition research operation, which, according to officials familiar with the plans for these outside groups, will be an organizational imperative for the presidential cycle.

Trump’s ‘University’ Accused Of Scamming Customers

May 9, 2011 by Andrew

The Huffington Post

By: Marcus Baram

Along with touting his wealth and business acumen, real estate mogul Donald Trump has long portrayed himself as an educator, who is ready and willing to impart the knowledge that can turn any motivated person into a multimillionaire.

On top of the millions who watch his prime-time smash hit, “Celebrity Apprentice,” thousands have enrolled in seminars with Trump University in order to better learn his money-making real estate sales methods. The educational program, launched in 2005, promises mentorships that are “the next best thing” to being Trump’s apprentice.

In speeches across the country, the potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate touts the importance of education. Trump has decried the state of our public schools and mocked President Barack Obama’s academic credentials.

“I’m deeply and actively involved in Trump University because I firmly believe in the power of education and its function as an engine of success,” he wrote in “Trump 101: The Way to Success.” “I want to help people, and, simply put, the Trump University students want to be successful. I’m on their side.”

Yet Trump’s credentials as an educator may be undercut by the recent history of his so-called university. The for-profit institution is the target of a class-action lawsuit in federal court and the attorneys general of six states are investigating numerous complaints about it.

Last year in New York, Trump University was forced to change its name by the Department of Education. State officials sent the mogul a tough letter saying that it was misleading for his company to use the term “university.” Several months earlier, the Better Business Bureau gave the program a D-minus rating. The BBB is also currently reviewing several complaints against the renamed Trump Entrepreneur Initiative.

Real-estate seminars like the one Trump operates have sometimes enriched thousands of motivated entrepreneurs, eager to flip houses and make extra money. But some high-profile hucksters have been indicted for fraud, putting the industry in a bad light.

“Generically speaking, these are modern-day snake-oil salesmen,” says Doug Heller, the executive director of Consumer Watchdog. He says that such “get-rich-quick schemes” use hard-sell techniques that play on people’s hopes and fears. Trump’s name recognition increases the lure and has the potential to deceive vulnerable people struggling in a poor economy into thinking that instant wealth is around the corner, he adds.

“With his TV show and even some of the kitschy products, the consumer loss is minimal,” Heller says. “You’ll never get that hour of ‘Apprentice’ back but that’s a lot different than 35 grand. And unlike throwing away $35,000 at the Trump casino, where you know the odds, these conferences are sold as sure things.”

Since 2005, over 11,000 people have attended one of his high-profile real-estate seminars. These often feature 20-foot-tall posters of Trump, speakers blasting the O’Jays’ “For the Love of Money” and lecturers promising to impart “insider secrets” to those who are willing to fork over thousands of dollars. Trump’s lawyers claim that the seminars have a customer satisfaction rate over 95 percent.

Some former customers disagree. They claim that the courses are just expensive “infomercials” that provide “empty promises” at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars.

“The primary lesson Trump University teaches its students is how to spend more money buying more Trump seminars,” says a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in San Diego.

Tarla Makaeff is a former fashion designer from Corona del Mar, Calif. and lead plaintiff in the class-action lawsuit. Makaeff says that she was convinced to attend the seminars by ads featuring Trump. Three-quarters of the world’s millionaires “made their fortune in real estate,” the promos boasted. “Now it’s your turn.”

But soon, Makaeff was pressured to raise her credit card limits so she could purchase the Trump Gold Program for $35,000, which promised “hand-picked” mentors and a year of training. Instead, she spent two days looking at real estate properties and a half day at a local Home Depot, after which the mentors “quickly disappeared,” Makaeff said. In addition, she claims the seminars taught her to snatch up cheap homes by using “bandit signs,” which are ads placed along the side of roads — a practice that is illegal in California and other states.

Her lawsuit alleges that Trump University’s mentors and associates “guide students toward deals in which they have a personal financial interest at stake — creating a severe conflict of interest, so that the mentors profit while the student does not.”

Another plaintiff in the suit, Ed Oberkrom, a 66-year-old retired computer technician living in St. Louis, says that he and a friend each dropped $25,000 on a similar Trump program. It promised access to “exclusive” property listings and the guidance of mentors. But Oberkrom told The Huffington Post that the listings were available elsewhere online for $35, Trump University staffers gave him the brush-off, and he didn’t get his money back, due to a three-day window on refunds.

“It’s a fly-by-night outfit and I feel cheated,” he says. “What is really aggravating is that Trump is noted for real estate, and that’s what attracted me in the first place.”

The Leading Cause Of Health Problems

May 6, 2011 by KT

Because I’m the Natural Cures guy, a lot of people look to me for advice on various ailments that are destroying their quality of life. Did you know that one of the number one reasons that people have these particular health issues is because of Candida yeast overgrowth?

Luckily for you, my good friend, Dr. Jeff McCombs has a protocol to get rid of this Candida yeast overgrowth that is causing you to have so many health issues.

How do you know you have a Candida yeast overgrowth?

Answer me these two simple questions:

1) Have you ever taken an antibiotic?

2) Have you ever eaten conventional meat and dairy products?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, then you absolutely have a Candida yeast overgrowth.

Let me explain. When you take an antibiotic, the friendly flora in your intestine gets killed.  Antibiotics kill all bacteria, even the friendly bacteria.  One of the bad bacteria is Candida albicans.  It’s a yeast.  It’s in our gut, but as long as the proportion of good bacteria to bad bacteria is in a correct manner, you have good digestion, good absorption of nutrients, good bowel movements, good cleansing.

Now, when you take an antibiotic, it kills all the good bacteria. That means all of a sudden, you have an imbalance.  You have more bad bacteria than you have good bacteria. If you eat meat, there are antibiotics in the meat and dairy products. Those antibiotics will kill the good bacteria.  Bad bacteria is a lot like crabgrass in that it can grow where real grass won’t.  Bad bacteria is stronger than good bacteria, so when you take an antibiotic, you’re left with just bad bacteria.

This causes Candida yeast to overgrow.  It begins to burrow itself into the intestinal wall and begins to permeate the entire body and transmute into a fungus.

This can cause you to be lethargic and tired in the afternoons.  It can cause gas, burping, and flatulence.  It can cause you to crave pasta, pizza, alcohol, sugar, dairy, and carbs. If you have any white coating on your tongue, you have a Candida yeast overgrowth.  If you have any skin problems, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff, you have a Candida yeast overgrowth.  If you have any breakouts or oily skin, again, possibly a Candida yeast overgrowth.  If you have a dry cough, Candida yeast overgrowth

There are hundreds of protocols out there to get rid of Candida.  None of them handle the Candida that has transmuted into a fungus and none of them get rid of Candida throughout the entire body.  Some of them may address the Candida in the intestine, but that’s only 10% of the Candida issue.  The other 90% is never addressed by anybody’s protocol, with the exception of Jeff McCombs’ McCombs Plan

There are certain protocols that I recommend to everyone I know and this is by far in my top 3 for cleansing the whole body and starting brand new! Go to McCombsPlanStartUp.com today and transform your health!
