Breast Cancer Gene Patent Reinstated
October 28, 2011
New Scientist
by Andy Coghlan
How’s this for a brain teaser: gene patents scrapped last year on the grounds that they were based on natural molecules were last week reinstated on the grounds that the molecules are, after all, unnatural. The development is the latest twist in a dispute over patents on the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene variants that raise the risk of breast cancer.
The result will likely be welcomed in the biotech industry, which has already patented 4000 human genes, but civil liberties groups are less than impressed.
In a ruling last March, the US District Court for the Southern District of New York declared the patents invalid because they describe genes found in nature, which cannot be patented as they are not inventions.
Last week, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reached the opposite conclusion. It decided that the BRCA genes patented by Myriad Genetics of Salt Lake City, Utah, differ from their natural counterparts by omitting non-coding “junk” regions that are present in the human body. “The molecules as claimed do not exist in nature,” says the judgment.
The American Civil Liberties Union and the Public Patent Foundation, which originally brought the case in 2009, may yet appeal. “Human DNA is not a manufactured invention, but a natural entity like air or water,” says Chris Hansen, a lawyer with the ACLU.

Scientist Prove DNA Can Be Reprogrammed by Words and Frequencies
October 28, 2011
Wake Up World
By Grazyna Fosar and Franz Bludorf
THE HUMAN DNA IS A BIOLOGICAL INTERNET and superior in many aspects to the artificial one. Russian scientific research directly or indirectly explains phenomena such as clairvoyance, intuition, spontaneous and remote acts of healing, self healing, affirmation techniques, unusual light/auras around people (namely spiritual masters), mind’s influence on weather patterns and much more. In addition, there is evidence for a whole new type of medicine in which DNA can be influenced and reprogrammed by words and frequencies WITHOUT cutting out and replacing single genes.
Only 10% of our DNA is being used for building proteins. It is this subset of DNA that is of interest to western researchers and is being examined and categorized. The other 90% are considered “junk DNA.” The Russian researchers, however, convinced that nature was not dumb, joined linguists and geneticists in a venture to explore those 90% of “junk DNA.” Their results, findings and conclusions are simply revolutionary! According to them, our DNA is not only responsible for the construction of our body but also serves as data storage and in communication. The Russian linguists found that the genetic code, especially in the apparently useless 90%, follows the same rules as all our human languages. To this end they compared the rules of syntax (the way in which words are put together to form phrases and sentences), semantics (the study of meaning in language forms) and the basic rules of grammar. They found that the alkalines of our DNA follow a regular grammar and do have set rules just like our languages. So human languages did not appear coincidentally but are a reflection of our inherent DNA.
The Russian biophysicist and molecular biologist Pjotr Garjajev and his colleagues also explored the vibrational behavior of the DNA. [For the sake of brevity I will give only a summary here. For further exploration please refer to the appendix at the end of this article.] The bottom line was: “Living chromosomes function just like solitonic/holographic computers using the endogenous DNA laser radiation.” This means that they managed for example to modulate certain frequency patterns onto a laser ray and with it influenced the DNA frequency and thus the genetic information itself. Since the basic structure of DNA-alkaline pairs and of language (as explained earlier) are of the same structure, no DNA decoding is necessary.
One can simply use words and sentences of the human language! This, too, was experimentally proven! Living DNA substance (in living tissue, not in vitro) will always react to language-modulated laser rays and even to radio waves, if the proper frequencies are being used.
This finally and scientifically explains why affirmations, autogenous training, hypnosis and the like can have such strong effects on humans and their bodies. It is entirely normal and natural for our DNA to react to language. While western researchers cut single genes from the DNA strands and insert them elsewhere, the Russians enthusiastically worked on devices that can influence the cellular metabolism through suitable modulated radio and light frequencies and thus repair genetic defects.
Garjajev’s research group succeeded in proving that with this method chromosomes damaged by x-rays for example can be repaired. They even captured information patterns of a particular DNA and transmitted it onto another, thus reprogramming cells to another genome. ?So they successfully transformed, for example, frog embryos to salamander embryos simply by transmitting the DNA information patterns! This way the entire information was transmitted without any of the side effects or disharmonies encountered when cutting out and re-introducing single genes from the DNA. This represents an unbelievable, world-transforming revolution and sensation! All this by simply applying vibration and language instead of the archaic cutting-out procedure! This experiment points to the immense power of wave genetics, which obviously has a greater influence on the formation of organisms than the biochemical processes of alkaline sequences.
Esoteric and spiritual teachers have known for ages that our body is programmable by language, words and thought. This has now been scientifically proven and explained. Of course the frequency has to be correct. And this is why not everybody is equally successful or can do it with always the same strength. The individual person must work on the inner processes and maturity in order to establish a conscious communication with the DNA. The Russian researchers work on a method that is not dependent on these factors but will ALWAYS work, provided one uses the correct frequency.
But the higher developed an individual’s consciousness is, the less need is there for any type of device! One can achieve these results by oneself, and science will finally stop to laugh at such ideas and will confirm and explain the results. And it doesn’t end there.?The Russian scientists also found out that our DNA can cause disturbing patterns in the vacuum, thus producing magnetized wormholes! Wormholes are the microscopic equivalents of the so-called Einstein-Rosen bridges in the vicinity of black holes (left by burned-out stars).? These are tunnel connections between entirely different areas in the universe through which information can be transmitted outside of space and time. The DNA attracts these bits of information and passes them on to our consciousness. This process of hyper communication is most effective in a state of relaxation. Stress, worries or a hyperactive intellect prevent successful hyper communication or the information will be totally distorted and useless.
In nature, hyper communication has been successfully applied for millions of years. The organized flow of life in insect states proves this dramatically. Modern man knows it only on a much more subtle level as “intuition.” But we, too, can regain full use of it. An example from Nature: When a queen ant is spatially separated from her colony, building still continues fervently and according to plan. If the queen is killed, however, all work in the colony stops. No ant knows what to do. Apparently the queen sends the “building plans” also from far away via the group consciousness of her subjects. She can be as far away as she wants, as long as she is alive. In man hyper communication is most often encountered when one suddenly gains access to information that is outside one’s knowledge base. Such hyper communication is then experienced as inspiration or intuition. The Italian composer Giuseppe Tartini for instance dreamt one night that a devil sat at his bedside playing the violin. The next morning Tartini was able to note down the piece exactly from memory, he called it the Devil’s Trill Sonata.
For years, a 42-year old male nurse dreamt of a situation in which he was hooked up to a kind of knowledge CD-ROM. Verifiable knowledge from all imaginable fields was then transmitted to him that he was able to recall in the morning. There was such a flood of information that it seemed a whole encyclopedia was transmitted at night. The majority of facts were outside his personal knowledge base and reached technical details about which he knew absolutely nothing.
When hyper communication occurs, one can observe in the DNA as well as in the human being special phenomena. The Russian scientists irradiated DNA samples with laser light. On screen a typical wave pattern was formed. When they removed the DNA sample, the wave pattern did not disappear, it remained. Many control experiments showed that the pattern still came from the removed sample, whose energy field apparently remained by itself. This effect is now called phantom DNA effect. It is surmised that energy from outside of space and time still flows through the activated wormholes after the DNA was removed. The side effect encountered most often in hyper communication also in human beings are inexplicable electromagnetic fields in the vicinity of the persons concerned. Electronic devices like CD players and the like can be irritated and cease to function for hours. When the electromagnetic field slowly dissipates, the devices function normally again. Many healers and psychics know this effect from their work. The better the atmosphere and the energy, the more frustrating it is that the recording device stops functioning and recording exactly at that moment. And repeated switching on and off after the session does not restore function yet, but next morning all is back to normal. Perhaps this is reassuring to read for many, as it has nothing to do with them being technically inept, it means they are good at hyper communication.

College Costs Outpace Inflation: College Board
October 27, 2011
Reuters
By Linda Stern
“Yes, a degree is a good thing to have. But we all know college is really just a huge scam. It should only take two years to get a degree – they make you take so many bogus glasses just to keep you around for five years to get more of your money.” –Chris KTRN
The cost of college in the United States rose sharply for the 2011-2012 school year, continuing a multiyear pattern in which public school increases outpaced private school hikes and both eclipsed the average rate of inflation by significant amounts, the College Board reported on Wednesday.
At public 4-year schools, average tuition and fees rose 8.3 percent to $8,244 for in-state students and 5.7 percent to $20,770 for out-of-state students, not including room, board, or extra expenses like travel, laptops and midnight pizzas.
Private nonprofit four-year schools raised their tuition and fees by 4.5 percent, to an average of $28,500, according to the study, Trends in College Pricing 2011, released by the College Board Advocacy & Policy Center. The Consumer Price Index increased 3.6 percent between July 2010 and July 2011, the study noted.
In-state tuition and fees for public two-year colleges averaged $2,963, an 8.7 percent increase from the previous year.
So-called net prices — the amount that families pay after receiving grant aid and taking advantage of tax credits — have increased by an average of about 1.4 percent a year for the last 5 years at public four-year schools, the College Board said. Those increases made college less affordable, as average family inflation-adjusted incomes have fallen in the decade between 2000 and 2010, the College Board said.
“While the importance of a college degree has never been greater, its rapidly rising price is an overwhelming obstacle to many students and families,” said College Board President Gaston Caperton.
Financial aid rose as well, the College Board said in a companion report, but not enough to cover increases in tuition and fees at four-year public schools. In the 2010-2011 year, undergraduate students received an average of $12,455 per full-time equivalent student in financial aid, including $6,539 in grant aid, $4,907 in federal loans, and $1,009 in a combination of tax credits and deductions and federal work-study jobs.
Many students supplement that with private loans, a figure that the College Board estimated at about $6 billion in total volume. In a separate development, President Obama unveiled a program on Tuesday that he said would help some 1.6 million student borrowers lower their student loan payments.
“College costs are still outpacing family incomes and available aid,” said Lauren Asher, president of the Institute for College Access & Success, an advocacy group.
“The maximum Pell Grant covers barely a third of the full cost of four years of college and we have more people with student loans than ever before, and they are borrowing more than ever.”
Asher has emphasized the bottom line cost of college, including all of those extra expenses such as travel and supplies, and noted that they make college even less affordable than the tuition, room, board and fees figures upon which the College Board focuses.
Beginning on October 29, U.S. colleges are required to post net price calculators on their web sites. These calculators are supposed to go beyond sticker prices to include estimates of total cost of attendance, including the extras, as well as estimates of typical aid paid to students at the school.

Ousted First Solar CEO Made $30M in 15 Months Amid 60% Stock Value Plunder
October 27, 2011
Bloomberg
By Christopher Martin
Rob Gillette, who stepped down as chief executive officer of First Solar Inc. (FSLR) this week after boosting panel manufacturing capacity during a slump, may be eligible for an $8.9 million severance package and collected $29.9 million for his initial 15 months on the job.
The world’s biggest maker of thin-film solar panels rewarded Gillette while its shares fell 60 percent from the day he started in October 2009 through Oct. 24, the day before he resigned. Compensation for Gillette, 50, is at least 19 percent more than Chevron Corp. CEO John Watson earned over the same period, when the U.S. energy company’s shares gained 54 percent.
Gillette’s pay, described in regulatory filings for 2009 and 2010, also show a $5 million signing bonus to lure him from Honeywell International Inc. (HON) First Solar received $3.07 billion in loan guarantees from the U.S. government to support projects using its technology, which is a rival to silicon-based cells made by Chinese companies led by Suntech Power Holdings Co.
“Gillette’s compensation was unusually front-loaded, so when it came time to throw him out he had them on the hook for a lot of money,” Graef Crystal, a compensation expert and Bloomberg News consultant based in Las Vegas, said in an interview. “This wasn’t pay for performance, it was pay for future performance.”
More Than Chevron
Chevron’s Watson was paid a total of $8.8 million in 2009 and $16.3 million last year, according to Chevron filings.
Gillette earned a total of $8.07 million in salary and other compensation in 2008, his last full year leading Honeywell’s aerospace division, according to company filings. His compensation was $4.14 million in 2009, before he left to run First Solar.
First Solar almost doubled production capacity as the market became oversupplied and prices for solar panels plunged, contributing to the bankruptcies of three U.S. manufacturers including Solyndra LLC, the recipient of a $535 million U.S. loan guarantee.
Ted Meyer, First Solar spokesman, wouldn’t discuss Gillette’s compensation. Gillette couldn’t be reached through his corporate e-mail account, which was closed, and his home phone number is unlisted.
First Solar Chairman Michael Ahearn, 54, was named interim CEO on Oct. 25 and the next day slashed the Tempe, Arizona-based company’s sales and profit forecasts for 2011. He plans to reduce capital spending to survive a global decline in demand and prices for solar products while shifting resources to expand sales in new regions.
Gillette’s severance package, according to First Solar’s proxy statement filed April 13, includes $2.55 million in cash and $19,111 in medical benefits.
Compensation in Shares
It also includes as much as $6.33 million in stock compensation, based on the company’s $130.14 share price at the end of last year.
First Solar rose 15 percent to $52.90 a share in New York today, the biggest gain since April 29, 2010. It plunged 25 percent, the most ever, on Oct. 25 after the company announced Gillette’s departure.
Crystal said the stock-based portion of the package is probably worth less now, depending on the date the company uses to calculate his severance, and it will be difficult to calculate its exact value.
First Solar’s expects its production capacity to reach 2,236 megawatts by the end of this year, up from 1,228 megawatts at the end of 2009, mostly from new factories in Germany and Malaysia, according to a second-quarter company overview.

WHY TO ONLY EVER BUY “IN-YOUR-HAND” BULLION: Confessions of a Gold Scammer
October 27, 2011
ABC News
By AVNI PATEL and BRIAN ROSS
A federal judge next month will sentence the man who authorities say took advantage of the booming gold market, by scamming more than 1,400 people out of tens of millions of dollars.
But before he goes to prison, the mastermind of the scheme, Jamie Campany, sat down with ABC News’ Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross to reveal how he tricked his hundreds of victims out of nearly $30 million.
The most promising victims of the gold scam, Campany said, were spotted through Google earth satellite images. Campany and his team matched phone leads to addresses to find victims with the biggest homes, and therefore the most money to invest in gold and silver.
But in reality, there was no gold despite the legitimate-looking transaction papers from the Global Bullion Exchange — a company that Campany said was “completely bogus.”
The Global Bullion Exchange was an invention of Campany’s, who took ABC News back to the now-empty telephone boiler room in Florida where his telemarketers worked their victims, mostly upper middle class business people who Campany said let their egos get the best of them.

“On occasion scientists working on the nuclear program in Iran turn up dead. I think that’s a wonderful thing, candidly,” said Rick Santorum at a recent campaign stop in Greenville, South Carolina.
But it isn’t just dead Iranian scientists that gladden Santorum’s heart.
He continued: “I think we should send a very clear message that if you are a scientist from Russia, North Korea, or from Iran and you are going to work on a nuclear program to develop a bomb for Iran, you are not safe.”
Santorum offers these comments while Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is in Pyongyang conducting diplomatic talks with North Korea. Panetta is trying to bring North Korea back to its former commitment to disarmament in exchange for foreign aid and the negotiation has been difficult.
Here is hoping that Rick Santorum’s comments don’t get Leon Panetta kidnapped. Watch the video below.

U.S. Drone Base In Ethiopia Is Operational; Breaking International Law Without Regard

By Craig Whitlock
The Air Force has been secretly flying armed Reaper drones on counterterrorism missions from a remote civilian airport in southern Ethiopia as part of a rapidly expanding U.S.-led proxy war against an al-Qaeda affiliate in East Africa, U.S. military officials said.
The Air Force has invested millions of dollars to upgrade an airfield in Arba Minch, Ethiopia, where it has built a small annex to house a fleet of drones that can be equipped with Hellfire missiles and satellite-guided bombs. The Reapers began flying missions earlier this year over neighboring Somalia, where the United States and its allies in the region have been targeting al-Shabab, a militant Islamist group connected to al-Qaeda.
Mindful of the 1993 “Black Hawk Down” debacle in which two U.S. military helicopters were shot down in the Somali capital of Mogadishu and 18 Americans killed, the Obama administration has sought to avoid deploying troops to the country.
As a result, the United States has relied on lethal drone attacks, a burgeoning CIA presence in Mogadishu and small-scale missions carried out by U.S. special forces. In addition, the United States has increased its funding for and training of African peacekeeping forces in Somalia that fight al-Shabab.
The Washington Post reported last month that the Obama administration is building a constellation of secret drone bases in the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa, including one site in Ethiopia. The location of the Ethiopian base and the fact that it became operational this year, however, have not been previously disclosed. Some bases in the region also have been used to carry out operations against the al-Qaeda affiliate in Yemen.

FDA Cites Blood-Clot Risk Tied to Bayer Birth-Control Pills
October 27, 2011
Bloomberg
By Adriel Bettelheim and Naomi Kresge
U.S. regulators warned there may be an increased risk of blood clots connected with birth-control pills made by Bayer AG (BAYN), and said the issue will be further evaluated in a meeting with advisers in December.
Women taking pills containing the hormone drospirenone were 74 percent more likely to experience clots than those on low- estrogen pills, the Food and Drug Administration said in a report released today. An FDA advisory committee will meet Dec. 8 to discuss the findings.
Sales of the Yaz family of birth-control pills fell 13 percent in 2010 to 1.11 billion euros ($1.57 billion), making them the company’s second-biggest drug. North American revenue from the pills has fallen as the German drugmaker, based in Leverkusen, faces competition from generics made by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (TEVA) The company earlier today said the pill’s risks weren’t higher than that of other oral contraceptives.
“We believe that the overall potential risk that Yaz or Beyaz present to patients is absolutely compared with that of other oral contraceptives,” said Joerg Reinhardt, head of Bayer’s HealthCare unit, in a conference call with analysts today before the FDA released the study results.
After the FDA made its statement, Astrid Kranz, a Bayer spokeswoman, said the company will comment further at the agency’s panel in December.
Similar to Progesterone
Drospirenone is similar to the natural female hormone progesterone. The study evaluated data from 835,826 women ranging in age from 10 to 55 taking pills containing the hormone over time, including Bayer’s Yaz, Beyaz and Angeliq, the FDA report said.
The FDA findings come on top of recent studies suggesting newer birth control pills, including those containing drospirenone, carry twice the risk of potentially deadly blood clots than older contraceptives.
Researchers in Denmark used the country’s health-care data base of women between the ages of 15 and 49 from 2001 through 2009 to find dangerous clots known as venous thromboembolism developed in 4,246 women for the first time during the study. The researchers reported their results in the British Medical Journal this week.

4 Reasons You Should Drink Enough Water
October 27, 2011
DrAxe.Com
By Dr. Josh Axe
You can go without food for days, weeks and even months, but going without water for just one day can negatively impact your health. Many people don’t realize just how important water really is. The human body is made up of 2/3 (66%) water and when we lose just a little bit of water through sweat and elimination, and we do not replenish lost liquid, we’ll begin to notice the effects to our health right away.
Health Effects of Going without Water
Water is the most valuable life support product for our health, right up there with oxygen. Water and oxygen are the only two things in life that without for just a short period of time we would die. Studies have been done that show if a 175 pound man were to lose just 2.5% of water in his body (2 quarts) he will lose 25% of his body’s effectiveness towards survival.
When a person begins to dehydrate more things happen in the body than just being thirsty. The more liquid in the body that is lost, the thicker the blood becomes and the harder the heart muscle must work to pump the blood through the circulatory system. When a person loses their abilities to reason and think straight because of dehydration it means they will die very soon, unless they drink water to rehydrate. Depending on the circumstances, mainly environment, a person can die within 24 to 28 hours after having no water if they are laboring in the hot dry sun with no water. If a person is sedentary indoors and the elements, such as wind, sun, and heat is not present they may live up to 3 days, tops. So water is VERY important for survival, but water is also very important to your overall health.
Most people think they drink enough liquids throughout the day to keep them hydrated. But if you counted all the beverages besides water that people drink you would see that they are actually dehydrating themselves. Most liquids such as coffee, tea, soda, alcohol, Gatorade, and sugary fruit drinks do not hydrate the body like pure water can. Some people are walking around actually dehydrated and they don’t know it because they don’t feel thirsty. Let’s take a look at 4 of the main reasons you should make sure you’re getting enough water.
1. Fatigue and Tiredness
The first sign of dehydration is the feeling of being tired; some people experience a headache and feel like taking a nap. When the body begins to dehydrate it means the tissues and cells are not getting enough water to make a person feel like doing anything; enzymatic activity slows down and without water the enzymes are unable to produce energy either. In fact a dehydrated person may have no enthusiasm or joy for life. The good news is once the individual starts to drink some water their energy reserves speed back up and sometimes the headache completely goes away.
2. Constipation and Digestive Problems
If a person is not drinking enough water they do not have enough liquid to help with the elimination process and without eliminating the foods we digest we gain weight, gain toxins, and feel awful. Being constipated is the beginning to many health problems from allergies to toxic overload syndrome to digestive disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome, gas bloating, stomach pain, nausea and loss of appetite in chronic cases.

Vitamin D Triggers Natural Immune Response Against Tuberculosis, Study Finds
October 27, 2011
Natural News
By Jonathan Benson
There is no need to get vaccinated against tuberculosis if you maintain high enough levels of vitamin D, suggests a new study published in the journal Science Translational Medicine. Researchers found that, in the presence of even minimally adequate levels of vitamin D, the body’s own immune system will naturally trigger an immune response against the disease and many others without the need for drug or chemical interventions.
Mario Fabri, who currently works in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Cologne in Germany, examined the effects of vitamin D on immunity during his time at the University of California, Los Angeles. He discovered that the vitamin D hormone is crucial for T-cells, which are the first responders to immune invaders, to produce a protein called interferon. And interferon has been shown to directly attack tuberculosis bacteria and prevent it from taking hold.
“Over the centuries, vitamin D has intrinsically been used to treat tuberculosis,” said Fabri, referencing the age-old practice of putting tuberculosis patients in areas of high sun exposure as part of their treatment. “Our findings suggest that increasing vitamin D levels through supplementation may improve the immune response to infections such as tuberculosis.”
Fabri’s previous studies also found that vitamin D is necessary for the immune system to produce cathelicidin, an antimicrobial peptide that, like interferons, provides humans and other mammals with protection against bacterial infections. In other words, vitamin D equips the body with the tools it needs to prevent infection without the need for drug-based antibiotics.
“At a time when drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis are emerging, understanding how to enhance natural innate and acquired immunity through vitamin D may be very helpful,” added Barry Bloom, co-author of the study and former dean of faculty at the Harvard School of Public Health.
What is even better is that interferons fight more than just tuberculosis. These powerful pathways of cell communication are known to exhibit an immune response to all sorts of viruses, bacteria, parasites, and even tumor cells, which means they can help prevent a host of other diseases besides just tuberculosis.
