Congressman Ron Paul continues to gain support in Iowa, this time with a new poll from a state university placing the GOP hopeful clear ahead of the competition.

According to a survey released on Tuesday by Iowa State University in conjunction with Gazette and KCRG, Paul has taken first place with 27.5 percent of the vote from likely caucus-goers. Last month Paul only polled with 20.4 percent support, but the falling out of pizzaman Herman Cain from the race as well as a strong campaign from the congressman’s camp are making a victory in Iowa seem increasingly more likely for the candidate.

As RT reported earlier in the week, this victory is only the latest in a string of successes for the Republican Party hopeful. Congressman Paul captured nearly a quarter of the vote in a new survey from Public Policy Polling and has seen a surge in popularity all along the campaign trail as of late.

This success, however, does not come without its opposition. The mainstream media continues to label Paul a fringe candidate, despite his stances which are finding a broader audience among Republican voters as the election season continues.

As this support surges, Paul is also becoming a threat to not just the GOP establishment but for also Democratic candidate, President Barack Obama. With a Washington Post/ABC News poll placing the current commander-in-chief neck-and-neck with former-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, a third-party run for Congressman Paul could detract from either of the candidates’ audience and cause a serious upset come 2012.

“The reality is Ron Paul is poised to become a major figure in the Republican Party if his momentum continues and he’s able to win in Iowa,” GOP strategist Steve Schmidt tells Washington Post. “The open question is: How much durability does he have over the balance of the race?”

Ron Paul was among the first candidates to pull out of a proposed GOP debate hosted by reality-television star Donald Trump scheduled for later this month, a move which prompted almost every other Republican hopeful to revoke their participation.

Kim Jong-killed? Speculation surrounds Dear Leader’s death

A cloud of mystery has shrouded the death of Kim Jong-il, as South Korean intelligence pokes holes in the official version of the Supreme Leader’s passing. The latest news begs the question: is Pyongyang involved in an assassination cover-up?

North Korean state television said Kim died of a heart attack on Saturday while traveling by train to a field inspection outside Pyongyang.

However, during a special session of the South Korean National Assembly Intelligence Committee, National Intelligence Service (NIS) head Won Sei-hoon claimed that Kim’s famous armored train was parked at Pyongyang’s train station at the time the he reportedly died, the Korean Herald reports.

Won said the intelligence was confirmed by US military satellite photos, which purportedly showed that the train was stationary in the capital city at the official time of death.

Won also said the NIS had been tracking Kim’s movements up until December 15. However, they lost track of him from the following day until the time of his death, the daily reports.

Now, the sudden nature of Kim’s death is fueling suspicion that Pyongyang is hiding something.

When Kim Jong-il traveled to Russia this past August, he appeared to be relatively healthy, albeit a bit thin. This, coupled with the fact that it took Pyongyang two days to announce Kim’s death, has prompted speculation that he could have been assassinated, the Korea Joongang daily reports.

Analysts noted that Kim, like his father, died succumbed suddenly to cardiac arrest due to “fatigue and overwork.”

Moreover, both men passed away during periods of strained international relations over the isolated state’s nuclear weapons program.

In July 1994, Kim Il-sung died just after agreeing to halt the country’s uranium enrichment program during a period of attempted rapprochement with the West. After his death, talks of freezing North Korea’s nuclear weapons program in exchange for aid would not resume for months.

Who‘s Footing the Bill for the Obama Family’s Estimated $4 Million Hawaii Vacation?

The Blaze

By Billy Hallowell

So, just how much will President Barack Obama’s Hawaiian vacation cost this year? That‘s a question that can’t be definitively answered until the costs are in and the trip has concluded, but an assessment of the numbers shows that it will likely be the 44th president’s most expensive vacation to date.

The Hawaii Reporter has estimated that travel, alone, will cost $3,629,622 — a startlingly large figure considering the length of the trip. And, yes, in case you were wondering: Taxpayers will be footing a chunk of the bill. After all, it‘s not cheap to ensure that the world’s most powerful leader is safe as he travels and enjoys time away from the grind.

To begin, the family is traveling separately, as Obama has had plenty to wrap up in Washington, D.C. before the holidays (i.e. the payroll tax cut drama). So, First Lady Michelle Obama already left for the family’s tropical getaway — a $100,000 expenditure, including personnel, travel and security.

How Do You Clean Out The Toxins?

There is a great article that says that a glass of milk (not raw, organic milk from grass-fed cows) contains 20 different painkillers, antibiotics, and growth hormones. This explains how the food supply is giving us massive amounts of drugs! There are pharmaceutical drugs and other chemicals in the meat, food, and milk.

What they’re not telling you is that the chemicals and the drugs build up in your system over time. They’re also not telling you that what is consumed in a day between the meat and the dairy alone, the amount of drugs you’re getting is a problem.  When you start adding it up, it causes all types of problems.

This is why simply going to a 100% organic food diet is good for you. This is why people started feeling so much better right away. Forget the fact that they’re getting more nutrients; it’s the fact that they’re getting away from the toxins and the drugs.

Is The Government Lying To You?

December 22, 2011 by KT

There was a story not too long ago that had such minor coverage on the mainstream media, but has a major impact on America.

Here’s the story: a medical doctor took her infant in to get a vaccine.  That night, the infant had major convulsions and got major, major medical problems.  The doctor then took action.  The doctor was paid millions of dollars by the U.S. government.  The United States Federal Government gave this doctor millions of dollars because the vaccine 100% caused autism and major medical problems.

The U.S. Federal Government told the doctor, “You must keep silent or we won’t pay you the money.”  It’s an annuity, so it’s paid over time.  The doctor keeps silent for a period of time and realizes that there are tens of thousands of other parents who have been given the same deal by the federal government; they were given millions of dollars in bribes and payoffs because their children were 100% given autism by vaccines.

The U.S. Federal Government paid millions of dollars to these people with one caveat, “Keep your mouth shut.”

Click here to watch this shocking story!

“I had no idea how prevalent this was.”  This was a medical doctor.  The United States Federal Government lies to every one of you.  The United States Federal Government lies to the American citizens on a regular basis.  The United States Federal Government does not want anyone talking about vaccines causing autism. The United States Federal Government knows that vaccinations, not in 100% of the kids, of course, do and are at least a major contributing factor in autism and mental retardation.

They have tens of thousands of known cases and they are paying the parents behind the back of the American public.  The federal government knows the dangers of vaccinations.  They know it is causing mental retardation and autism in children.  They are then lying about it. They’re paying the parents who have this problem and who fight, but the hundreds of thousands of other parents who don’t know enough to fight or don’t have the resources or education to fight are left to suffer.

PLUS, the government on one side of their mouth says there is no correlation between vaccines and autism, and that vaccines cause no health issues in children.  They say that knowing full well that vaccinations are, in fact, causing hundreds of thousands of cases of permanent medical damage to children.  They are paying millions of dollars to people secretly and demand that these people not say a word.

This brave, courageous American hero, and other parents are now coming forward and announcing to the world, “The federal government is paying us millions of dollars to shut up about vaccines causing mental retardation, neurological problems and autism in children.”

Where is this in the headlines? Why isn’t this a top headline story? Because the government doesn’t want you to know the truth!

Well the fact is…I will never hide the truth from you. Tune in to The Kevin Trudeau Show 24/7 to hear the truth around the clock!

“This is super cool. Click the full article below to see some cool pictures. If you could sign up for a trip to the moon, would you go?” –KTRN

Today, space travel is closer to reality for ordinary people than it has ever been. Though currently only the super rich are actually getting to space, several companies have more affordable commercial space tourism in their sights and at least one group is going the non-profit DIY route into space.

But more than a decade before it was even proven that man could reach space, average people were more positive about their own chances of escaping Earth’s atmosphere. This may have been partly thanks to the Interplanetary Tour Reservation desk at the American Museum of Natural History.

In 1950, to promote its new space exhibit, the AMNH had the brilliant idea to ask museum visitors to sign up to reserve their space on a future trip to the moon, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn. They advertised the opportunity in newspapers and magazines and received letters requesting reservations from around the world. The museum pledged to pass their list on to whichever entity headed to each destination first.

The Federal Reserve – Short Circuiting The World

The Constitution Times

Goldman Sachs does not rule the world. The Federal Reserve rules the world. The actions by 6 of the world’s major central banks to ease “strains” in the European financial markets, is yet another way in which the markets are manipulated. The Federal Reserve is at the forefront.

The world’s entire financial system is so systemically overloaded and corrupt ,that the circuit breakers designed to provide economic safeguards are a futile patchwork that is failing anyway. The world is wired in a financial mess of such magnitude, that is about to burn up cash like gasoline on a bonfire. That’s where the Federal Reserve and the other banks step in. They provide the liquid – in this case, liquidity. Eventually, that spills inflation over everything.

So, let’s take a step back for a moment and ask ourselves the obvious question again, which is: Why do the banks need to step in? The most simple answer is that there is a debt crisis. Ah, there is that dirty word again – debt. The world is awash in debt and the United States is treading water like a third world country. So, if the United States is also in a debt crisis, coupled with high unemployment, political unrest and spending money it doesn’t have in fighting wars all over the globe; how can the country’s Federal Reserve come to anyone’s rescue? The easy answer is because it can – by printing money, lots and lots of fiat money.

Foreclosure Sales Still Pummeling Home Prices

CNN Money

By Les Christie

Nearly five years into the crisis, foreclosures are still weighing heavily on home prices.

A whopping 46% of homes sold in November were either short sales or REOs — as homes repossessed by lenders are called, according to a survey by Campbell/Inside Mortgage Finance. One problem: Distressed homes sell for a lot less than homes sold by conventional sellers. The average price for a short sale (when borrowers owe the bank more than their homes are worth) was $209,000 in November. For a regular sale, the average was about $259,000.

The numbers are even worse for REOs, which averaged about $190,000 for properties in move-in condition.

For a damaged REO, the price was just $99,000. That’s a common problem, since homeowners who’ve been foreclosed on don’t typically devote resources to upkeep.

There is no shortage of distressed properties: More than 6 million borrowers are delinquent 30 or more days, according to LPS Applied Analytics. Two million are already in the foreclosure process, and most of these homes will be repossessed or sold as short sales.

“The huge glut of distressed properties coming to market is why there will be no home price rebound this coming year and maybe into 2013,” said Guy Cecala of Inside Mortgage Finance, a publisher of mortgage information and news.

There’s another problem: getting financing for REOs in poor shape can be difficult, according to Cecala. Lenders don’t like to issue mortgages for homes in need of extensive repairs.

Study: Cutting Carbs Two Days a Week Is Better than Full-Time Dieting

Good news for dieters who feel that counting calories has become a full-time job. According to new research, you might do better to cut carbs just two days a week instead of going low cal every day.

In a recent study, presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, British researchers found that women who eliminated carbohydrate-rich foods like bread, pasta, potatoes and rice two days a week and ate their normal diet the rest of the time lost an average of 9 lb. over four months. Meanwhile, women in a similar group who ate a 1,500-cal.-per-day Mediterranean-style diet for the same time period lost only 5 lb.

Women on the intermittent diet not only lost more weight but also showed greater improvements on other markers of health, including levels of insulin and leptin.

The study was borne of the researchers’ efforts to come up with a diet that people could actually stick with, especially women who are at high risk of breast cancer. Obesity is a known risk factor for the disease, and hormones like insulin and leptin are also associated with tumor development.

“Weight loss and reduced insulin levels are required for breast-cancer prevention, but [these levels] are difficult to achieve and maintain with conventional dietary approaches,” lead author Michelle Harvie, a research dietitian at the Genesis Prevention Center at the University Hospital in South Manchester, England, said in a statement.

How Your Pulse Can Predict Your Risk of Death

December 22, 2011 by William

Time

By Alice Park

There are several ways doctors predict your vulnerability to heart disease, among them: cholesterol levels, blood pressure, blood glucose levels and weight. Now a new study adds another measure to the list — your pulse rate.

Researchers in Norway analyzed data on nearly 30,000 men and women, and found that those whose resting heart rates increased over time were more likely to die from heart disease. The participants were healthy, with no history of heart conditions, and agreed to have their resting heart rates measured twice, 10 years apart, in 1984-86 and again in 1995-97.

Those whose resting pulse crept from under 70 beats per minute at the first reading to more than 85 beats per minute at the second measurement were twice as likely to die over a 12-year follow-up, compared with people resting heart rate remained below 70 beats.

People who started out with pulse rates between 70 and 85 beats per minute were also at risk of heart-related death; if their heart rates rose beyond 85 beats per minute by the second reading, they had an 80% increased risk of dying from heart disease, compared with people whose heart rates remained stable.

The opposite effect emerged in people whose heart rates dropped over time: those whose resting heart rate started out at 70 to 85 beats per minute and fell to less than 70 beats at the second reading were 40% less likely to die of heart disease than those who maintained their pulse rates.

Many factors go into your resting heart rate, including your weight, blood pressure, the medications you take and how much you exercise. Whether you are standing up or lying down when you take your reading can also affect pulse (that’s why your heart may race a bit when you first get up in the morning). Experts say healthy adults can have pulse rates ranging from 60 to 100 beats per minute. Elite athletes typically have lower heart rates, around 40 beats per minute because of their better heart fitness.
