While Mexico grapples with relentless drug-related violence, a group of Mexican scientists is working on a vaccine that could reduce addiction to one of the world’s most notorious narcotics: heroin.
Researchers at the country’s National Institute of Psychiatry say they have successfully tested the vaccine on mice and are preparing to test it on humans.
The vaccine, which has been patented in the United States, works by making the body resistant to the effects of heroin, so users would no longer get a rush of pleasure when they smoke or inject it.
“It would be a vaccine for people who are serious addicts, who have not had success with other treatments and decide to use this application to get away from drugs,” the institute’s director Maria Elena Medina said Thursday.
Scientists worldwide have been searching for drug addiction vaccines for several years, but none have yet been fully developed and released on the market.
One group at the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse has reported significant progress in a vaccine for cocaine.
However, the Mexican scientists appear to be close to making a breakthrough on a heroin vaccine and have received funds from the U.S. institute as well as the Mexican government.
During the tests, mice were given access to deposits of heroin over an extended period of time. Those given the vaccine showed a huge drop in heroin consumption, giving the institute hope that it could also work on people, Medina said.
Kim Janda, a scientist working on his own narcotics vaccines at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, said that based on some earlier research papers he had read, the Mexican vaccine could function but with some shortcomings.
“It could be reasonably effective but maybe too general and affect too many different types of opioids as well as heroin,” Janda said.
Mexico, a major drug producing and transit country for drugs smuggled into the United States, has a growing drug addiction problem. Health Secretary Jose Cordoba recently said the country now has some 450,000 hard drug addicts, particularly along the trafficking corridors of the U.S. border.
Mexican gangsters grow opium poppies in the Sierra Madre mountains and convert them into heroin known as Black Tar and Mexican Mud, which are smuggled over the Rio Grande.
Every year, the heroin trade provides billions of dollars to gangs like the Sinaloa Cartel and the Zetas. Since 2006, cartel violence has claimed the lives of over 47,000 people in Mexico.

Lanolin
Lanolin is a rich emollient made from sheep’s wool. It makes an excellent base for medicinal salves and naturally moisturizes skin. Lanolin has been used for thousands of years as an all-purpose vehicle for a long list of skin-care products for both medical and cosmetic purposes, including hypoallergenic preparations. The myth that lanolin causes allergies, is just that — a myth — and in actuality, the incidences of a lanolin allergyare negligibly low.
Glycerin
Glycerin is a byproduct of the soap-making process and provides a wonderful natural base for making medicinal lotions. As a humectant, glycerin attracts moisture to the skin. It’s a naturally sweet-tasting, clear liquid which, when frozen, becomes a sticky paste. It mixes well with alcohol or water but not with fats or oils. Straight glycerin is dehydrating when used on its own; however, when diluted with water, it’s an excellent skin-softening moisturizer.
Medicinal Tinctures
Many medicinal tinctures can be purchased over-the-counter from homeopathic pharmacies. Some tinctures require a prescription from a doctor. Tinctures are similar to herbal extracts in that they are made from herbs and preserved with alcohol. Tinctures are not quite as strong as liquid extracts. Although extracts may be more potent, they lose their potency faster than tinctures and they contain plant matter suspended in the mixture, making them less desirable for use in topical applications. Tinctures are the preferred choice for making most medicinal salves and lotions. Ointments made from lanolin tend to be greasy. Glycerin lotions absorb into the skin in most cases, leaving no residue.
Tincture Percentages
Percentages of tinctures to base ingredients vary; however, a safe guideline is to add 10 to 15 percent tincture to the mix. When making salves and ointments with lanolin, the texture may be too thick. In order to thin, add a small amount of olive or coconut oil. For example, try 2/3 lanolin to 1/3 olive oil, then add the tincture and mix by hand or in a food processor until well blended. Decant into dark glass containers and store covered in a cool, dry place.
Medicinal Applications
Here are some suggestions for making ointments and lotions for personal use using tinctures and either lanolin or glycerin. Other natural bases and tinctures can also be used andexperimented with. Tinctures should be 1X potency if you can get them. If not, get the lowest potency available.
Wounds, scrapes, infections, acne — equal parts Echinacea, Calendula, Hypericum, Arnica montana
Bruises and muscle strain –Arnica montana
Foot problems, aches, corns, plantar warts — Thuja
Scar removal including acne scars and keloids — Thiosimaminum
Hemorrhoids — equal parts Hamamelis virginicus, Aescus hippocastanum, Arnica montana, Calendula (Mix in lanolin base. Do not use glycerin.)
Sprains and joint pain — Arnica montana, Rhus toxicodendron, Ruta gravolens, Calcarea florica, Symphytum

Why The Medical Establishment Will Never Find A Cause Or Cure For Autism

No matter how you look at it, autism research is big business. Just like the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s “Race for the Cure” for breast cancer, the autism industry pretends to be looking for the causes of autism and how to cure it, when in reality it is on a never-ending hunt for money to fund so-called research into the bodily changes associated with autism in order to push more profit-generating screenings and drug therapies on the public.
The worldwide propaganda campaign that continues to repeat the lie that vaccines are in no way related to autism is one great example of the medical establishment covering up one of the most obvious causes of autism. Rather than actually investigate how the body responds to vaccines, and how these responses are clearly associated with the neurological damage that is part and parcel of autism symptoms, researchers continue to churn out studies that completely avoid any investigation of this or any other likely cause of autism.
Instead, the vast majority of autism studies, which happen to be funded mostly by the pharmaceutical industry, focus solely on the physical, genetic, and chemical changes that accompany the disease, and ignore trying to identify the causes that lead to these changes in the first place. This approach is deliberate, of course, because it facilitates the development of an endless cycle of drug and behavioral therapies for autism that never get to the root of the problem, which means they will forever generate a continuous stream of new profits.
“To find a disease cause and solution to prevent disease isn’t profitable,” says a recent article in Gaia Health that addresses this important issue. “However, to find even the most miniscule physical, genetic, or chemical change in someone with an existing disease means that even more money can be squeezed out of the research funders like the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), agencies funded by taxpayers. Anything that leads away from causes and focuses on the physiochemical effects of autism always leads to more questions and more research funds.”
The medical establishment seeks to destroy the lives, careers of researchers who actually try to identify causes of, and cures for disease. On the rare occasion that an honest researcher comes along and tries to actually conduct legitimate research into the causes of autism, he or she is eventually cut off from the funding chain, and sometimes even maligned and slandered in the public eye by the medical and media establishment. Vaccines For Everything: Researchers Now On Brink Of Developing Salmonella Jab

The vaccine industry is currently hard at work trying to churn out a vaccine for salmonella, a typically food borne pathogen that thrives on factory farms and in other unsanitary settings. CBS 13 News in Sacramento reports that researchers from the University of California, Davis, have been tasked with developing a vaccine that supposedly prevents salmonella, which these researchers say they are on the verge of completing in the very near future.
Rather than attempt to address the root causes of salmonella, which include filthy animal living conditions on industrial farms and the overuse of synthetic antibiotics in conventional livestock, just to name a few, mainstream science is busy concocting new ways to jab people with toxic chemical cocktails that could permanently injure them.
Funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health, Stephen McSorley and his team of international researchers believe that by closely studying the immune response to infection in mice, they will be able to arrive at a solid vaccine protocol for “curing” salmonella. And their findings thus far, which were recently published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, seem to indicate that the project is moving forward as planned.
Not surprisingly, Big Pharma is behind this ludicrous endeavor to develop a vaccine for an illness that is largely preventable through improved hygiene, small-scale agriculture, and naturally-boosted human immunity. Drug giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and the Novartis Vaccines Institute for Global Health are both collaborators on the project, which is expected to soon move into human clinical trials (http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2012/02/a-vaccine-against-salmonella/).
The development of this new salmonella vaccine appears to also align directly with the vision of a group of researchers in the U.K. who last summer called for the development of 20 new vaccines in the next decade. So by the looks of it, there could soon be vaccines for virtually everything — a headache, an upset stomach, a paper cut, you name it. U.S. crude futures rose for a seventh day on Friday, ending with their best weekly performance since December, as a report by the U.N. nuclear watchdog that Iran had stepped up work on nuclear enrichment was seen further inflaming tensions between Tehran and the West.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, crude for April delivery settled at $109.77 a barrel, gaining $1.94, or 1.8 percent, the highest settlement since May 3, when prices ended at $111.05.
In seven straight days, front month crude futures surged $9.03, or 8.96 percent, their biggest seven-day increase since Oct. 31, when they gained 9.25 percent. For the week, front-month crude rose 6.33 percent, the best weekly percentage gain since the week to Dec. 23, when prices rose 6.58 percent.

Seventy years ago today, the Battle of Los Angeles occurred, a vicious fight that resulted in three civilian deaths.
Haven’t heard of it? We’re not surprised.
The U.S. government said what happened was nighttime antiaircraft crews protecting Los Angeles got nervous — it was just two months after Pearl Harbor — and opened fire on a weather balloon.
The crews also set off flares, and all the confusion just built on itself. So we’re told.
Others say the night featured an attempted UFO landing, in which the valiant gun crews fought aliens trying to land.
It’s pretty obvious the latter is true.
Obviously the aliens not only attempted to land, they succeeded. Just look at what’s happened in Hollywood since then. The logic becomes inescapable.
5. The quantity of UFO/alien movies has increased dramatically

The world has an excess of fiat currency, yet world bankers seem ready to prove that the creation of yet more money will stimulate our economy. The more likely outcome is devalued currencies and a much lower standard of living.
The currency with the most to lose is the US dollar. This week I want you to take a look at this very long term chart, so you can see the precarious technical position of the dollar.
One of the most dependable chart formations used in technical analysis is the head and shoulders pattern. There is a giant head and shoulders top pattern on this very long term dollar chart, and it indicates that the dollar is headed for an enormous decline, and will acquire a downside target of 42.
The dollar has been trading under the neckline of this pattern for 18 months in a range trade. I think the range trade is now ending, and we are on the cusp of a huge new leg to the downside.
US debt is up nearly 50% in four years. The debt will never be repaid in today’s money, because for every dollar that is collected in tax revenue, another dollar is borrowed.
My price and volume analysis suggests that the target price of 42 could be acquired within 2-3 years. A move from about 120 on the dollar index to 80 caused gold to rocket fourfold. Gold went from about $250 to $1000.
A 50% fall in the dollar, with the financial system in this precarious state, could see gold acquire price targets well above $6500.

CIA-NATO Front Group Drafts “Humanitarian Aid” for Syria

An effort to impose the sort of “humanitarian aid” on Syria that ultimately killed around 30,000 people in Libya is underway in Tunisia.
CNN reports that “world powers” – corrupt states belonging to the Arab League and ultimately members of the European Union – are “mapping out a plan to deliver humanitarian aid” in Syria under the banner of “Friends of Syria.”
On Thursday, Secretary of State Clinton gave her blessing to a move to arm the Syrian opposition. CNN attempted to soften the deadly impact of Clinton’s move to initiate a fresh round of terror and murder by stating that “the opposition will find willing sources to supply them with munitions to counter the Syrian government onslaught blamed for thousands of deaths.”
“There will be increasingly capable opposition forces,” Clinton hinted. “They will from somewhere, somehow, find the means to defend themselves as well as begin offensive measures.”
The latest “Arab Spring” effort to impose a new political order in Syria arrives after months of corporate media coverage portraying the al-Assad regime as murderous while ignoring reports of CIA and NATO snipers killing civilians.
An Arab League report issued earlier this month revealed that the Free Syria Army and other “armed opposition groups” are currently engaged in killing civilians and police and conducting terrorist attacks targeting innocent civilians.

Former Ron Paul staffer Lew Rockwell says that talk of an alliance between Mitt Romney and Ron Paul is an “establishment trick” to smear Paul by making him appear as a sell out.
Rockwell, who served as Ron Paul’s congressional chief of staff from 1978 to 1982 and remains close to Paul and several campaign insiders, told the Alex Jones Show that rhetoric about a potential partnership wherein Ron Paul would be granted a VP slot was merely a political ruse to “make Ron Paul supporters like Romney”.
The controversy received fresh impetus earlier this week when Rick Santorum and his campaign manager claimed Paul and Romney were in cahoots to shoot down Santorum’s candidacy. The talking point has subsequently been pushed by the mainstream media, including a Washington Post article today that speculates on whether the alliance is genuine.
Rockwell said that although Romney may be a pleasant person, his political positions are anathema to Ron Paul given the fact that he is a globalist, a big government advocate and a warmonger.
“Just because he looks good in a suit doesn’t mean that he’s not one of the top creeps, otherwise he wouldn’t be supported by the Republican establishment and by the establishment in general, so no we don’t want anything to do with him except to oppose him,” said Rockwell.
“They would never let Ron Paul be Vice President…the idea that the regime would invite him into office is just science fiction,” said Rockwell, explaining that the only way for Paul to be on the Republican ticket would for for his supporters to vote him in.

12 Preparedness Tips for Families with Children

“Is you’re getting prepared for what is to come, here is a great article on some ideas of how to prepare with children.” –KTRN
Something I have not given much thought to is how to deal with survival and preparedness matters when there are young children in the household. Perhaps it was watching the children on Doomsday Preppers that set me on this path, or perhaps it was just something I started thinking about on my own.
Whatever the reason, I have always treated young children as mini-adults, able to rationalize and understand and feel the emotions and body language of the adults around them. And I love kids. Even though I don’t have any of my own, I recognize and love that they are fresh and unspoiled by life and its failures. For no other reason, I wish to share my thoughts on preparedness for families with little ones under the roof.
A Dozen Preparedness Tips for Families
1. Include children in family preparedness discussions. Explain what you are talking about in a calm, assured manner and answer questions honestly and simply. Focus the conversation on the safety issues that will ensure their survival.
2. Regardless of their age, teach young children to memorize their basic personal information such as full name, address, telephone number, and the names of their parents or guardians. This will be invaluable in the event they become separated from their family following a disaster.
3. Learn the disaster response policies of you child’s school or daycare center. Be sure to establish a backup plan so that someone is available to pick them up and/or care for them if you are unable to do so. A good idea would be to have the backup person check on them, regardless, just to be sure. (After all, you may be hurt and unable to call the backup person yourself.)
