“Gardasil is a joke. How sad that people are being brainwashed into believing HPV is a major danger. It’s a virus. Do the Herpes detox.” –KTRN
Since 2006, 41 states have introduced legislation to support the HPV vaccine industry, despite the danger of death and injury. Shockingly, Dr. Diane Harper, a lead developer of Merck’s Gardasil HPV vaccine, warns against Gardasil vaccine deaths and she advocates complete disclosure about the risk of death and adverse reactions (including Guillian-Barre syndrome) to parents and patients. Dr. Harper also acknowledges that the CDC’s death rate data is skewed.
95% of infections from HPV resolve on their own with zero government intervention. Cervical cancer is rare, and only 10% of adverse reactions to vaccines are reported. Merck and GSK are the top 2 HPV vaccine makers.
The HPV vaccine legislation in 41 states includes mandatory vaccination, funding Merck and GSK’s HPV vaccines, removing parental rights by removing parental consent for the HPV vaccine, or educating the public about the HPV virus. Currently, New York is considering legislation making vaccines mandatory.
The federal government pays for more than 40% of HPV vaccinations. The HPV vaccine is given in 3 doses and costs over $300. Most of the girls targeted for HPV vaccination conveniently have private insurance.
With this much money on the table, greedy vaccine makers are pushing the HPV vaccine that was designed to treat cervical cancer, on boys (note to Merck & GSK: males do not have cervixes). The HPV vaccine industry promotes vaccination in men and boys using the excuse that they could contract cancer from the HPV virus through anal and oral sex. However, the CDC admits that it does not know the efficacy rates of the drug for males and advises against ‘routine vaccination’.
School vaccination requirements are usually decided by state legislatures, although some have handed this power over to unaccountable agencies like state Health Departments These agencies are reliant on the legislatures for funding, therefore, responsibility ultimately lies with the legislature.

CDC Declares That Boys Should Be Vaccinated Against HPV

In a shocking display of utter corruption and ignorance, a US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advisory committee has officially declared that young boys and men between the ages of 11 and 21 should be vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV), the viral infection supposedly linked to causing cervical cancer in women.
Despite the fact that males do not even have a cervix, 12 of the 14 CDC committee members decided that vaccinating boys as young as nine against the virus is still a good idea. And in a separate vote, the majority of the committee members also decided that men as old as 26 should be vaccinated against HPV as well, which encompasses practically all young men.
The decision is founded in the CDC’s belief that Merck & Co.’s Gardasil and GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) Cervarix, the two vaccines approved for HPV, also help to prevent genital warts and various types of cancers in males. Such claims, though, have never actually been proven. The studies used as proof are skewed, and all of them were funded by the vaccine manufacturers.
There really is no solid medical proof that either Gardasil or Cervarix prevent HPV infections, cancer, or the transmission of HPV from men to women, as proponents of the vaccines claim.
“Though about 40 other countries have approved the vaccine (Gardasil) for males, there is still no medical proof Gardasil prevents penile cancer or other HPV-associated cancers in men,” says an Associated Press (AP) report from 2008. “There also is no evidence the vaccine prevents the spread of HPV from men to women.”
But the CDC advisory committee cannot let the facts get in the way of the pro-HPV vaccine agenda. A recent CNN report on the announcement even admits that the sudden push to vaccinate boys against HPV has little to do with actually stopping the spread of disease, and everything to do with getting as many people vaccinated as possible.
“One reason for the push now is that girls aren’t getting vaccinated in the numbers doctors had expected,” says the report. And the reason girls are not getting vaccinated is because HPV vaccines are linked to a host of very serious and deadly side effects, and have never been proven to be effective at preventing or treating anything.

Physician Speaks Out: Gardasil Vaccine Dangerous, Completely Useless At Preventing Cervical Cancer

The massive controversy over Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s appalling 2007 executive order mandating that all young girls in his state receive Merck & Co.’s Gardasil vaccine before entering school has brought the issue of the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness, or lack thereof, back to the forefront of the national conversation. And a European physician has now openly spoken out against Gardasil, claiming that it is both dangerous and completely ineffective at preventing cervical cancer.
Dr. Christian Fiala, a general practitioner from Vienna, Austria, told WorldNetDaily (WND) in a recent report that Merck’s Gardasil does not actually work to prevent cervical cancer, and that it is not safe. According to Dr. Fiala, “there is no proof of a causal relationship of HPV (human papillomavirus) and cervical cancer, and there is no evidence that HPV vaccine reduces the overall number of cervical cancer (cases).”
Assuming for a moment that the Gardasil vaccine actually does help prevent HPV, Dr. Fiala asserts that HPV is not even itself responsible for causing cervical cancer, which makes the vaccine completely useless at accomplishing the very thing for which it is marketed. And as we previously reported, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also known since at least 2003 that HPV is not associated with causing cervical cancer as well.
But none of this has stopped Merck and its lackeys in the government and media from continuing to endorse the “money-making machine without any benefits for patients,” as Dr. Fiala calls it. And this was made abundantly clear when the mainstream media went on its rampage against Rep. Michele Bachmann following her recent comments about Gardasil’s dangers at the GOP presidential debates.
Dr. Fiala has been fighting against Gardasil in Austria for years, especially after several otherwise healthy and vibrant young girls in his country died just days after receiving their Gardasil vaccines. And while Gardasil is still legal in Austria, Dr. Fiala says it is “used infrequently,” thanks to widespread awareness of its potential to seriously injure and kill those who receive it.
“To say Gardasil has a suspect safety record is a big understatement,” said Tom Fitton, president of Washington watchdog group Judicial Watch, to WND. His group uncovered documents back in 2008 revealing that the FDA has known for a while that Gardasil is responsible for causing anaphylactic shock, foaming at the mouth, grand mal convulsions, coma, and paralyzation, among other things.
“These reports are troubling and show that the FDA and other public health authorities may be asleep at the switch.”

Bachmann Keeps Up HPV Attack On Perry

By: Catalina Camia
GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann is slamming rival Rick Perry’s executive order requiring Texas girls to get a vaccine against cervical cancer in a fundraising pitch for “emergency” funds.
Appearing this morning on NBC’s Today show, Bachmann repeated her line of attack from last night’s GOP debate and criticized Perry for “crony capitalism.” He signed an executive order in 2007 requiring sixth-grade girls to be inoculated for HPV, the virus that is the leading cause of cervical cancer.
“To have innocent little 12-year old girls be forced to have a government injection through an executive order is just flat out wrong,” Bachmann says in her e-mail requesting donations, titled “I’m Offended.”
Bachmann suggested at the debate, in her fundraising pitch and on TV today that Perry’s order was motivated by his ties to a former aide who works for Merck, the pharmaceutical giant that manufactures the vaccine.
Perry said at the debate that he was wrong not to consult the Texas Legislature on the issue, but he defended his executive order as something necessary to save lives. He said he was “offended” by Bachmann’s suggestion that his order was motivated by a campaign donation from Merck.
Bachmann, a Minnesota congresswoman with three biological daughters, is asking for donations of $25 or more in the fundraising pitch, saying she needs it to defeat President Obama.
Her attack on Perry over the HPV vaccination was endorsed by Sarah Palin, who told Fox News on Monday night that it’s tough to go against someone in your own political party.
“You have to go up against the big guns, and they will try to destroy you when you call them out on the mistakes they have made,” Palin said.

Texas Governor Has Deep Ties With Merck

Gov. Rick Perry ordered Friday that schoolgirls in Texas must be vaccinated against the sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer, making Texas the first state to require the shots.
The girls will have to get Merck & Co.’s new vaccine against strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV, that are responsible for most cases of cervical cancer.
Merck is bankrolling efforts to pass laws in state legislatures across the country mandating it Gardasil vaccine for girls as young as 11 or 12. It doubled its lobbying budget in Texas and has funneled money through Women in Government, an advocacy group made up of female state legislators around the country.
Details of the order were not immediately available, but the governor’s office confirmed to The Associated Press that he was signing the order and he would comment Friday afternoon.
Perry has several ties to Merck and Women in Government. One of the drug company’s three lobbyists in Texas is Mike Toomey, his former chief of staff. His current chief of staff’s mother-in-law, Texas Republican state Rep. Dianne White Delisi, is a state director for Women in Government.
Toomey was expected to be able to woo conservative legislators concerned about the requirement stepping on parent’s rights and about signaling tacit approval of sexual activity to young girls. Delisi, as head of the House public health committee, which likely would have considered legislation filed by a Democratic member, also would have helped ease conservative opposition.
Perry also received $6,000 from Merck’s political action committee during his re-election campaign.
It wasn’t immediately clear how long the order would last and whether the legislation was still necessary. However it could have been difficult to muster support from lawmakers who champion abstinence education and parents’ rights.
Perry, a conservative Christian who opposes abortion rights and stem- cell research using embryonic cells, counts on the religious right for his political base.
But he has said the cervical cancer vaccine is no different than the one that protects children against polio.
“If there are diseases in our society that are going to cost us large amounts of money, it just makes good economic sense, not to mention the health and well being of these individuals to have those vaccines available,” he said.
Texas allows parents to opt out of inoculations by filing an affidavit stating that he or she objected to the vaccine for religious or philosophical reasons.
Even with such provisions, however, conservative groups say mandates take away parents’ rights to be the primary medical decision maker for their children.
The federal government approved Gardasil in June, and a government advisory panel has recommended that all girls get the shots at 11 and 12, before they are likely to be sexually active.
The New Jersey-based drug company could generate billions in sales if Gardasil _ at $360 for the three-shot regimen _ were made mandatory across the country. Most insurance companies now cover the vaccine, which has been shown to have no serious side effects.
Merck spokeswoman Janet Skidmore would not say how much the company is spending on lobbyists or how much it has donated to Women in Government. Susan Crosby, the group’s president, also declined to specify how much the drug company gave.
A top official from Merck’s vaccine division sits on Women in Government’s business council, and many of the bills around the country have been introduced by members of Women in Government.

Over-The-Counter Pain Medication Carry Heart Attack Risk

By: Catherine Donaldson-Evans
New evidence has surfaced adding fuel to the theory that several common prescription and over-the-counter pain drugs may increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Among those targeted in the study by Swiss researchers: ibuprofen (sold as Advil, Motrin), naproxen (sold as Aleve) and prescription drugs including Celebrex and Vioxx, which has been withdrawn from the market in the U.S. over safety concerns.
Scientists from Bern University in Switzerland analyzed the findings of 31 trials covering more than 116,000 people taking one of the following pain medications: naproxen, ibuprofen, diclofenac, Celebrex made by Pfizer (celecoxib), Arcoxia made by Merck (etoricoxib), Merck’s Vioxx (rofecoxib), Prexige by Novartis (lumiracoxib), or a placebo.
They were looking at older non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, known as NSAIDS, and a newer set called COX-2 inhibitors to measure heart disease and stroke risks.
Ultimately, what they found was that while the painkillers’ chances of contributing to cardiovascular disease were relatively low, there were still significant risks — except with naproxen according to their study published Wednesday in the British Medical Journal.
“Naproxen in multiple studies has not [been shown to have a risk],” said AOL Health’s cardiology expert Dr. Christopher Cannon. “That is definitely the first drug of choice to use. That’s a very strong take-home message.”
The team led by Peter Juni, of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at Bern, said that Vioxx and Prexige had double the risk of heart attack as a placebo, and taking ibuprofen more than tripled the risk of having a stroke.
Cardiovascular-related death was four times more likely in patients taking Arcoxia and diclofenac, the authors said.
“Although uncertainty remains, little evidence exists to suggest that any of the investigated drugs are safe in cardiovascular terms,” said Juni, according to Reuters.
He said doctors should be careful before suggesting or prescribing painkillers to patients and must consider the heart disease and stroke risks associated with them.
Still, the rate of cardiovascular conditions was relatively low in the participant pool, with only 554 heart attacks, 377 strokes and 676 deaths among the 116,000 participants.
Both NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors have been under scrutiny for their risk of heart problems.
The Swiss scientists said naproxen seemed to be the least risky painkiller, though it can upset the stomach and even cause ulcers and bleeding. Celebrex, taken in 400-milligram increments once a day, is a good second choice, they concluded.
Cannon, who took part in one of the trials the scientists used for their analysis, said there are specific reasons for naproxen’s benefits. But he disputed the researchers’ recommendation to take Celebrex as an alternative if stomach troubles persist with Alleve.
“Naproxen has an anti-clotting effects, similar to the way aspirin does. That may be how it is protective,” he told AOL Health. “I would counter [the suggestion to use Celebrex]. It’s been a little less studied … but Celebrex has similar risks to Vioxx and the others, so one has to be aware of that.”
Previous studies have provided mixed results on the drugs’ potential link to cardiovascular problems, according to the researchers. Vioxx was pulled from shelves in 2004 after one clinical trial revealed a higher risk of heart attack in those taking it.

Big Pharma Loses 54,000 Jobs in 2010

By: Melly Alazraki
If you put aside the government and nonprofit organizations, the pharmaceutical sector had the dubious honor of topping all others when it came to U.S. job cuts in 2010. Outplacement company Challenger, Gray & Christmas reports that, of the roughly 530,000 jobs eliminated in this country last year, nearly 54,000 were at pharmaceutical firms. Another 28,000 were announced in the health care/products sector.
That may sound rough, but things were even worse in 2009. Pharmaceutical companies were responsible for about 61,000 of the 1.29 million layoffs announced that year. In 2010, the pharmaceutical industry saw only a 12% decline in job cuts. Compare that to the U.S. automotive sector, which had the largest job cuts in 2009 (after government), but saw a 91% drop in 2010.
Little Hiring, Lots of Restructuring and Mergers
Pharmaceuticals also announced very little hiring in 2010 — less than 2,000 jobs. The flip side is the retail sector, which Challenger says announced about 203,000 additional jobs last year and the transportation sector, which added nearly 64,000 new jobs.
Not surprisingly, two of the main reasons for pharmaceutical job cuts in 2010 were industry consolidation and restructuring. The mega-mergers that dominated the pharmaceutical sector in 2009 resulted in large layoffs a year later. One prime example is Merck (MRK), which acquired Schering-Plough in 2009 and announced 17,500 job cuts last year. Overall, more than 27,700 jobs were lost in the industry due to mergers and acquisitions.
Nearly 23,000 more pharma jobs were trimmed because of restructuring. The remaining 3,000 or so were reportedly eliminated due to site closings, economic conditions, relocations, outsourcing and order cancellations.
Regarding restructuring, the pharmaceutical industry has been bracing itself for years now. Many companies are approaching the so-called patent cliff, when some of their most profitable blockbuster drugs will lose patent protection and face generic competition. At the same time, the pipeline of expected new drugs hasn’t yet shown the potential to replace that lost revenue. Pfizer (PFE), for example, will lose patent protection this year on its cholesterol fighter Lipitor — the world’s best-selling drug, with sales of over $11 billion. The company remains on the lookout for what it hopes will be Lipitor’s successor.
As the chart shows, the number of layoffs in the pharmaceutical industry rose sharply over the past five years as companies restructured. And a spokesman for Challenger acknowledges that, even though layoffs dropped in 2010, they were still relatively heavy.
But the pharmaceutical sector may still have an upside in 2011. Smaller pharma deals in 2010 could mean fewer jobs lost to M&A this year. Moreover, the industry is now leaner — much of the downsizing came in marketing and sales, as well as research and development — leaving less room for further cuts. While the rising trend of outsourcing R&D may not bode well for job growth in Big Pharma, it could create opportunities for research companies, as well as small pharmas and biotechs with exciting pipelines.

Thimerosal-Free Childhood Vaccines Still Suspect In Autism
December 30, 2010 by admin

Natural News
By: Bethany Sciortino
In a recent article in the Chicago Tribune “Link between autism and vaccines discredited,” Dr. Cory Franklin makes the definitive claim that vaccines do not cause autism. The study to which his article refers was published in Pediatrics, the online journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Researchers reviewed the medical records and interviews with parents of 1000 children exposed to an undisclosed amount of thimerosal, the mercury containing preservative once used in childhood vaccines. Because only 25% of these children had autism while the rest claimed to be neuro-typical, Pediatrics claims thimerosal-containing vaccines and immunoglobulins do not significantly increase the risk of autism. This hardly discredits or proves anything, especially given that the study in question lacks any scientific evidence. Should we believe that vaccines don`t cause autism just because only 250 out of 1000 cherry-picked kids in this study have the disorder?
What`s in a childhood vaccine?
Even if thimerosal is no longer used in childhood vaccines, there still remains antibiotics like gentamicin, strepomycin and neomycin.
These vaccines are live viruses cultured in chick embryos, monkey liver cells and fetal cow serum. Some are cultured in human lung cells and almost all vaccines are cultured with human albumin – the plasma from another person`s blood collected from aborted fetuses. Then there are detergents, disguised with difficult-to-pronounce names and used for paints, household and industrial cleaners and metal working fluids.
Some vaccines also contain monosodium L-glutamate (MSG), an excitotoxin known to cause cancer and linked to brain and neurological damage in autism, ADHD and Parkinson`s Disease – not to mention formaldehyde (a known carcinogen), antifreeze, aluminum, emulsifiers and “other buffers.”
This is not information that is readily handed out at your child`s well-baby visits, but you can go to Merck`s website and download the prescribing information for almost all of their vaccines. For example, Merck lists the MMR-II vaccine as “preservative-free” and the ingredients as follows:
Active Ingredient: Weakened virus of measles, mumps and rubella viruses
Inactive Ingredients: sorbitol, sodium phosphate, potassium phosphate, sucrose, sodium chloride, hydrolyzed gelatin, recombinant human albumin, fetal bovine serum, other buffer and media ingredients, neomycin.
Translation as follows:
Active ingredient (the objective): Three live viruses – measles, mumps and rubella cultured in unborn chickens and human lung tissue of an aborted fetus
Inactive ingredient (what they can`t make the vaccine without): sugar alcohol; detergent; a buffer or cell washer to allow chemical reactions to occur; sugar; salt; protein extracted from boiled bones, connective tissues, organs and some intestines of animals such as cattle, pigs and horses; DNA containing protein from human blood plasma created in the human liver; plasma from fetal cow blood often drawn from a live cow fetus after its mother is slaughtered; other stuff; antibiotics.
Most people, if given this information beforehand, would not willingly inject themselves or their children with such a toxic cocktail. It is not surprising that recent studies focus on thimerosal, an ingredient that supposedly has been removed from this vaccine more than seven years ago.
After reading this lengthy list of additives, the question remains – can the ingredients of vaccines increase your risk of autism? Or allergies, or disease, or any condition for that matter?
The truth is simple: there are real risks associated with vaccines and autism is only one. Everyone should be informed before they vaccinate or not vaccinate themselves or their children – after all, this is America and it is your choice.
