‘Pink Slime’ Is Now Found In 70 Percent Of The Ground Beef At Our Grocers

Would you knowingly eat ground beef which contained scrap meat items such as muscle connective tissue which had been sprayed with ammonium hydroxide? Would you want your children to eat such ground beef in their school lunches? According to recent revelations, if you or your children eat ground beef there is a strong chance that both may be happening.
Last week, former United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) scientist-turned-whistleblower Gerald Zirnstein revealed that 70 percent of the ground beef sold at supermarkets contained the fake-meat additive which is commonly referred to as “pink slime”. This revelation came on the heels of reports that the USDA is purchasing 7 million pounds of the product for school lunches in public schools.

“Pink slime” is made by gathering beef waste trimmings, simmering them at low heat to make it easy to separate fat from the muscle, and using a centrifuge to spin the waste trimmings to complete the separation. Next, the mixture is sent through pipes and sprayed with ammonium hydroxide gas to kill bacteria. Finally, the product is packaged into bricks, frozen and shipped to grocery stores and meat packers, where it is added to most ground beef.
The beef trimmings are particularly susceptible to contamination and were once relegated to pet food and cooking oil. However, Beef Products Inc. (BPI), the makers of “pink slime, commissioned a study which reportedly demonstrated that the ammonia process would kill E. coli as well as salmonella. Ever since the study, use of “pink slime” in ground beef has increased.
In 2009, the New York Times reported that despite the added ammonia, tests of “pink slime” across the country revealed dozens of instances of E. coli and salmonella. According to the Times, E. coli was found three times and salmonella 48 times between 2005 and 2009, including two contaminated batches of meat totaling 27,000 pounds.
Zirnstein, who first coined the term “pink slime” in a USDA memo, told ABC news “It’s economic fraud. It’s not fresh ground beef. …It’s a cheap substitute being added in.”

In perhaps the most amazing display of unmitigated gall since the Journal of Pediatrics declared mercury ‘good for kids,’ (1) Beef Products Inc. (BPI) told The Daily that its “lean finely textured beef,” treated with ammonia, is good for America’s schoolchildren. Last week The Daily broke the news that the federal government plans to buy beef containing over 7 million pounds of ‘pink slime’ over the next year.
“Including LFTB in the national school lunch program’s beef products accomplishes three important goals on behalf of 32 million kids,” BPI spokesman Rich Jochum told The Daily. “It 1) improves the nutritional profile, 2) increases the safety of the products and 3) meets the budget parameters that allow the school lunch program to feed kids nationwide every day.” (2)
So what’s the real reason?
With their first and second stated reasons being patently absurd, it really just comes down to the third, the almighty dollar. By adding the beef fat and trimmings, known to contain higher levels of E. Coli, salmonella, and other pathogens, then adding ammonia to kill said pathogens, they are able to save 3 cents off the cost of making a pound of beef. (2)
So by adding ammonia to a product that was previously only sold to dog food and cooking oil suppliers, (3) BPI is able to decrease their costs by mixing it with beef and feeding it to children.
Want to vote with your wallet and forgo the ‘pink slime’ infested meat? It might be difficult. Janet Riley, senior vice president of public affairs for the American Meat Institute recently made her case against labeling, telling ABC News, “What you are asking me to put on the label, its beef, it’s on the label, it’s a beef product, it’s says beef so we are declaring … it’s beef.” (3)
By Ms. Riley’s logic, dog food is ‘beef’ too. Perhaps she is using the same standards McDonalds uses when it calls its chicken nuggets ‘chicken.’ (4)

Forget the corn dog and pizza quarrels. Healthy school lunch advocates have a bigger problem on their plates: a 7 million-pound order of connective tissue and beef scraps doused in ammonia, set to hit school lunch trays in coming months.
Despite being dropped in December by McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Burger King, the infamous concoction—known as “pink slime”—is still in high demand, thanks to a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) purchase that will keep it on school lunch menus. Yes, keep; it’s been there for years and is set to stay.
The substance is smooshed into meat patties and served up as hamburgers, but the meat product is made from parts of cows “normally destined for dog food and rendering,” reports The Daily.
Microbiologist Gerald Zirnstein and retired microbiologist Carl Custer say the goop is “a high risk product.” The two conducted a study on pink slime in the late ’90s, when JoAnn Smith—known for being buddy-buddy with the beef industry—was serving as undersecretary for the George H.W. Bush administration. (Smith was president of both the Florida Cattlemen’s Association and the National Cattlemen’s Association). At the time, Custer sounded the alarms for food-safety concerns, but the USDA ignored his warnings, Custer says, soliciting a second assessment of the slime’s safety.
Because the meat scraps are particularly vulnerable to contamination, South Dakota company Beef Products, Inc. came up with the idea to soak the stuff in ammonia to kill E. coli and salmonella in 2001. The USDA stamped it with approval and shortly thereafter, the slime was available for public consumption.

The vaccine industry is currently hard at work trying to churn out a vaccine for salmonella, a typically food borne pathogen that thrives on factory farms and in other unsanitary settings. CBS 13 News in Sacramento reports that researchers from the University of California, Davis, have been tasked with developing a vaccine that supposedly prevents salmonella, which these researchers say they are on the verge of completing in the very near future.
Rather than attempt to address the root causes of salmonella, which include filthy animal living conditions on industrial farms and the overuse of synthetic antibiotics in conventional livestock, just to name a few, mainstream science is busy concocting new ways to jab people with toxic chemical cocktails that could permanently injure them.
Funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health, Stephen McSorley and his team of international researchers believe that by closely studying the immune response to infection in mice, they will be able to arrive at a solid vaccine protocol for “curing” salmonella. And their findings thus far, which were recently published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, seem to indicate that the project is moving forward as planned.
Not surprisingly, Big Pharma is behind this ludicrous endeavor to develop a vaccine for an illness that is largely preventable through improved hygiene, small-scale agriculture, and naturally-boosted human immunity. Drug giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and the Novartis Vaccines Institute for Global Health are both collaborators on the project, which is expected to soon move into human clinical trials (http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2012/02/a-vaccine-against-salmonella/).
The development of this new salmonella vaccine appears to also align directly with the vision of a group of researchers in the U.K. who last summer called for the development of 20 new vaccines in the next decade. So by the looks of it, there could soon be vaccines for virtually everything — a headache, an upset stomach, a paper cut, you name it. Anything mainstream medicine can identify that is a consequence of a underlying condition rather than a cause of it is open game for vaccine development because there is a whole lot of money to be made utilizing this approach to so-called medicine.

While Government Discredits Raw Milk, It Keeps Names Of Salmonella Outbreak Restaurants Secret To Protect Corporate Profits

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is getting increasingly bold these days with openly admitting that it works directly for big industry interests rather than public health interests. In a recent report on why the agency did not disclose Taco Bell as being the “Mexican-style” restaurant chain involved in a recent salmonella outbreak, the FDA essentially admitted that it is more concerned with upholding a close-knit relationship with big industry players like Taco Bell than it is with being transparent and telling the truth for the public interest.
Last fall, at least 68 people in ten states were infected with salmonella poisoning from food sold at an undisclosed Mexican-style restaurant chain, according to an FDA announcement. At least 20 of these people became so ill that they had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment, and yet, the entire time, the FDA refused to disclose the name of the chain, which was later uncovered to be Taco Bell.
Any rational person can see that disclosing such information is not only pertinent and beneficial to public health efforts, but also a necessity if the information itself is to have any benefit or reason for being announced in the first place. But the FDA disagrees, having told ABC News in a recent interview that the agency often does not disclose this crucial information for fear that “it could have the effect of discouraging … cooperation between our agencies and the food industry.”
What this really means, of course, is that the FDA places a higher priority on catering to its special interests, which in this case includes fast food restaurant chains like Taco Bell, than it does to protecting public health. Obviously the public has a right to know if a major food producer is even potentially selling food that is tainted with harmful bacteria, despite what the FDA claims about the situation.
And yet if this same salmonella outbreak had been in any way linked to raw milk, you can be sure the name of the company involved would have been prematurely published far and wide, even if said outbreak later turned out not to have anything to do with raw milk. This is exactly what happened to Organic Pastures Dairy in California back in December when regulators illegitimately framed the company and shut down its business indefinitely (http://www.naturalnews.com).

Proof That The FDA’s Assault On Raw Milk Has Nothing To Do With Consumer Safety

An astonishing two-thirds of all fresh chicken meat sold in grocery stores today is contaminated with salmonella. Diet soda is laced with aspartame, a chemical sweetener made from the feces of genetically engineered bacteria. “Natural” corn chips are made from genetically modified corn plants linked to widespread infertility when consumed by mammals.
Processed meats are laced with cancer-causing sodium nitrite and everything from soups to salad dressings is “enhanced” with the chemical excitotoxin known as MSG which promotes obesity.
Throughout the food industry, blueberries are faked using artificial colors, corn syrup and antifreeze liquids used to winterize vehicles. Milk fats are artificial modified through the process of homogenization, which makes them dangerous for human health.
The high fructose corn syrup used to sweeten sodas causes diabetes and is often contaminated with mercury. Chicken McNuggets are made with a chemical used in silly putty and the soy protein used in most protein bars is extracted using an explosive chemical called hexane.
The FDA says nothing about all this. Instead, the agency wants you to believe that the real danger in the food supply is found exclusively in raw dairy products which contain no additives or synthetic chemicals, by the way.
Yep: All the toxic chemicals and highly processed ingredients that cause cancer, diabetes, heart disease and nutritional deficiencies are all perfectly good for your health, the FDA says… because they’re dead!
OMG it’s alive!
Only LIVING foods, you see, pose a health risk according to the FDA. An FDA spokesperson was recently quoted in the NY Times claiming that raw milk causes children to become “paraplegics.” (Seriously, I’m not making this up.) Meanwhile, the FDA remains utterly silent on the far more alarming fact that children’s hot dogs are laced with cancer-causing sodium nitrite which causes a 300% increase in the risk of brain tumors.
The FDA, you see, has absolutely no concern whatsoever about truly dangerous foods. Almost any chemical in the food supply is fine with the FDA as long as it’s not actually alive.
If you’re a conventional foods manufacturer in the USA, you can quite literally dump huge quantities of cancer-causing chemicals directly into the food and the FDA won’t blink an eye. A little more cancer, after all, boosts the profits of the drug companies and the entire cancer industry, and that has been the FDA’s mission all along: To promote the financial interests of the drug companies which prey on sickness and disease.
In fact, much of the food being sold today that the FDA considered “safe” is actually made out of non-food synthetic chemicals or radically modified molecules that used to be food but are now closer to plastics. Partially-hydrogenated oils, for example, are a lot closer to plastic (which is a solid at room temperature) than oil (which is a liquid). That’s the whole point of hydrogenation: To make oils solid at room temperature. Care to guess what this does when those same hydrogenated fats are circulating around your bloodstream? Yep, they remain as solids there, too, sludging up your blood, clogging arteries and raising your blood pressure.
But the FDA has no problem with all that. Food companies can commit what is essentially mass genocide through the use of toxic food additives, and the FDA remains completely silent, with its hands over its eyes pretending to see nothing.
Meanwhile, people are dying every single day from preventable diseases caused by toxic food ingredients, dead foods, processed foods and pasteurized food products. The FDA, in openly allowing this to take place, is criminally negligent in the deaths of literally millions of people — far dwarfing the number of Jews murdered by the Nazi regime.
The FDA = Food and Death Administration
So don’t fall for the naive idea that the FDA is somehow interested in actual food safety. Get real! The FDA openly and arrogantly allows the American people to be poisoned en masse by the mainstream food supply being shipped and sold in grocery stores across American right now. What the FDA really doesn’t want happening is people waking up to the truth that raw milk is healthier than pasteurized milk. Because if that happened, people might start to question all the other dead, processed foods they’re eating, too.
And that might lead to a mass nutritional awakening and a revolution that would ultimately result in the arrest and prosecution of FDA tyrants — the very same people who have been criminally negligent in allowing the mass poisoning of the American people for all these years, you see. That’s what we really need: An armed Justice Department raid on the FDA! Put FDA commissioner Hamburg in shackles and parade her through the streets where all the tens of millions of people who have been damaged or maimed by toxic food ingredients can finally seek justice for the harm caused them by the FDA and the gang of unindicted criminals who run it.
That day is coming, by the way. Justice will arrive and those tyrants in government who have masterminded the mass poisoning of the American people will be held accountable for their crimes. The People will not forget, and the truth simply cannot be suppressed any longer. Thanks to the Rawesome Foods raid, it is now totally obvious to everyone that the FDA is waging a war of terrorism against the American people, and that this is a rogue agency which simply cannot be negotiated with.

Cargill Recalls Potentially Tainted Turkey

Cargill announced a voluntary recall Thursday of 36 million pounds of ground turkey products in connection with a salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 77 people nationwide, seven of them in Illinois.
The meat producer has also suspended production of ground turkey products at an Arkansas processing plant until it can determine the source of the contamination, Cargill said in a statement.
Of the seven reported illnesses in Illinois, the Illinois Department of Health said at least one person lives in DuPage County. The other cases were reported in Cass, Cook, Madison, Peoria, Will and Williamson counties.
At least one person in Illinois was hospitalized, the health department said. The ages of those infected range from 3 to 60.
The first illness in Illinois tied to this outbreak was reported March 21, while the most recent case was June 29, the health department said.
Salmonella is a food-borne illness characterized by diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps that usually lasts from four to seven days, the health department said. Most people recover on their own, but in some cases the diarrhea is severe enough that the patient requires hospitalization.
Cooking meat such as ground turkey to an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees should kill salmonella bacteria, the health department said.
Keep raw poultry and its juices away from ready-to-eat foods such as fruit or already-cooked food. Wash hands and food preparation surfaces thoroughly after they come into contact with raw poultry.
Customers who purchased turkey products on the recall list should bring them back to the store where they bought them for a full refund, Cargill said.
