“This could help Ron Paul. It really makes you wonder though if Santorum had pressure to bail so Romney can get the nomination which would automatically make Obama the winner. Romney has no chance. If he’s the nominee, let’s all hope Ron Paul runs as an independent.” –KTRN
Rick Santorum is suspending his presidential campaign, the former Pennsylvania senator announced at a news conference in Gettysburg, Pa.
“Miracle after miracle this race was as improbable as any race you have seen for president,” he said. “Against all odds we won 11 states.”
“While this presidential race for us is over, for me, and we will suspend our campaign effective today, we are not done fighting,” Santorum said, as his family stood by his side at the podium.
The announcement clears Pennsylvania for Mitt Romney to win the state’s April 24 primary, according to polls from last week. And, Santorum’s suspension will likely allow Romney a mathematical path forward to grab the party’s nomination to challenge President Obama.
Romney has built a strong lead toward the 1,144 delegates needed to win the party nod, but the former senator kept Romney from the figure as evangelical and working-class voters dubbed Santorum the conservative alternative.
After Santorum’s announcement, Romney called Santorum an “able and worthy competitor” and “an important voice in our party and in the nation” in a news release.
Another Santorum Slip: Obama an Anti-War ‘Government Nig?’

Failed former junior senator from Pennsylvania by way of Virginia, turned presidential hopeful, Rick Santorum speaks to a crowd at The Armory in Janesville, Wisconsin on March 27th during a campaign stop.
In this speech, he had been blasting Barack Obama for all things real and imagined. Then where this clip begins Santorum continues “We know the candidate Barack Obama…what he was like. The anti-war, government nig… (insert stumble here).”
Oh my.
Maybe he meant to say “Blah people” again? Then Santorum awkwardly attempts to continue with some other thought bubble that hatched in his head. (The original video of the speech is available here. The remarks in question take place at about 34:50.)
Meanwhile, Santorum’s campaign staff are searching desperately for a word that starts with “nig” that sounds plausible:
“Oh, come on!” Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley told Raw Story when asked for comment. “Give me a break. That’s unbelievable. What does it say about those that are running with this story that that’s where their mind goes. You know, I’m not going to dignify that with [a response].”
“That is absolutely ridiculous.”

The establishment clearly does not want Ron Paul to get more delegates. This is exactly why he needs more delegates. –KTRN
Doug Wead, a New York Times best selling author and a senior adviser for the Ron Paul presidential campaign, writes on his blog today that Alex Hayes, director of establishment Republicans in Washington State, made the claim that the Romney-Santorum-Gingrich campaigns are pushing a common slate of candidates in Washington State to block Ron Paul’s campaign from taking delegates.
“The apparent move on the part of the Romney-Santorum-Gingrich campaigns is to block citizens favoring Ron Paul from taking over the Washington State delegation to Tampa,” Wead writes.
Ron Paul has gained delegates at the expense of both Romney and Santorum. “States such as Missouri, where Senator Santorum won a meaningless beauty contest, will see a sizable Ron Paul representation, as will Minnesota, Maine, Colorado, Nevada and Iowa. In Nevada, on the first ballot, the delegates, even if Ron Paul supporters, must vote for candidates proportionately as they finished in the Nevada Statewide beauty contest. But they can vote their conscience on the second ballot,” Doug Wead explains.
Over the weekend, a video emerged showing how establishment Republicans in Missouri connived to rob Ron Paul of delegates:

Santorum Tells Supporters That All Science Is Make-Believe And The Sun Revolves Around The Earth

“Lord, hear our prayer – please do not let Rick Santorum win the GOP nomination. The man thinks the sun revolves around the Earth. He has lost his marbles. Amen.” –KTRN
At a rally in Independence, Missouri, Rick Santorum revealed to a large crowd a lot more information regarding his beliefs on science. He told the crowd that not only is climate change “make-believe,” but all science is “made up by the government to control our way of life.” He said that the only way to live is by the “Holy book,” and everything else taught in the “liberal schools” is “designed to indoctrinate our children into the realm of Satan.”
One of Mr. Santorum’s most outrageous claims came when he told his crowd of supporters that “the sun revolves around the earth.” He said that, “in order to think that the earth revolves around the sun you have to be of the thinking that we are not the most dominant planet and species in the universe. I’m not going to let my children grow up in a society that tells them to believe the planet they live on is only a small speck in the bigger picture. God created our planet to be special because we are. He created the sun to keep us warm and provide light to our crops. He created man to be the keeper of it all. This is what we need to teach our children, not some mumbo-jumbo science that only seeks to pull our children away from the Lord.”
Scientists quickly refuted Santorum’s claims with centuries full of evidentiary information to prove science is indeed real, and that the earth does without question revolve around the sun.
Rick Santorum’s campaign advisor was not able to be reached for comment, but he was last seen burying his head deep in his hands. He may have been praying, or he may have finally given up on his candidate.

Ron Paul Appearing On The Tonight Show Demonstrates His Confidence

(KTRN Exclusive) Ron Paul has now appeared on The Tonight Show during his campaign for President of the United States twice. None of the other candidates have done any type of candid, off the cuff interviews while running for president. Why? Because the other candidates have a lot to hide. They know their constant flip flopping, weird ideological ideas, and obvious lies will be asked about in the open. Ron Paul though doesn’t have anything to hide, he doesn’t flip flop, and he is consistent in his message. The other candidates would be eaten alive or at the very least they would be put on the spot. Paul has no problem with this – he’s loose, comfortable, and has huge support from young people all over the country. The other candidates are simply scared to do these types of interviews. They know there could be members of the audience who might scream negative attacks, or worse yet, the interviewer would ask Rick Santorum why he just made a speech where he said the Earth doesn’t revolve around the sun. (He really did say that.) Not only would the other candidates get booed, but they would probably be laughed at too.
Have you been watching the comedy news programs too, as in the Daily Show or Colbert Report? They hardly ever do any jokes about Ron Paul. Why? It’s because there really isn’t much to make fun of. Paul is smart, consistent, and makes a lot of sense. It’s much easier to rip on Newt Gingrich for his extra marital affairs, or to make fun of the true definition of “santorum.” Every night the other candidates are constantly being called under the rug by Stewart and Colbert, but they hardly touch Ron Paul. Some might argue that this is media censorship of Paul’s message, but in reality, it’s mainly because it’s difficult to make fun of a guy who doesn’t lie or flip flop.
Ron Paul going on The Tonight Show during his run for president is a clear demonstration that he’s at peace with his message. He knows the American people are beginning to wake up to the idea of true liberty.

Ron Paul Tells Reporters He Is Suspicious About Results Of GOP Caucuses

“We should all be suspicious about the caucus results. Ron Paul wins almost every on-line poll and straw poll, (not to mention getting way more people showing up at his events than all of the other candidates) yet he keeps losing caucuses? Something just doesn’t seem right.” –KTRN
In a conversation with reporters in Missouri this weekend, GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul said that he and his supporters were suspicious about the outcomes of several caucuses because the crowds and volumes of support have been much bigger for him than for any other candidate.
“Quite frankly I don’t think the other candidates get crowds like this, and we get them constantly” Paul said, after he had spoken to yet another crowd of over 2500 supporters in Missouri.
“You would get the perception that we would be getting a lot more votes.” He added.
“Sometimes we get thousands of people like this and we’ll take them to the polling booth, yet we won’t win the caucus.” Paul said, adding “A lot of our supporters are very suspicious about it.”
When informed that Santorum had won the Kansas caucuses, Paul admitted that he had not seen the numbers on it at that point but again reiterated his point, stating:
“That reminds me of a picture I just looked at. I had four thousand people and he had a hundred and fifty. So who knows.”
The picture, below, shows a huge turn out at a Kansas town hall meeting for Paul this weekend, compared to virtually nobody showing at Santorum’s event.

GOP Hopefuls Tell AIPAC They Support Iran Attack

On Super Tuesday, establishment GOP candidates pledged their fidelity to the foreign policy objectives of Israel and AIPAC as they strived to outdo each other in belligerent rhetoric aimed at Iran. Romney, Santorum and Gingrich promised to support an Israeli attack some analysts predict will occur in June.
“If Iran doesn’t get rid of nuclear facilities, we will tear them down ourselves,” said Rick Santorum, who has expressed strongly worded anti-Iran sentiment in the past. In January Santorum said he would not hesitate to launch an attack on Iran.
Attacking Iran over its unsubstantiated nuclear weapons program has remained at the forefront of his presidential campaign. In November, appearing before a small crowd in rural New Hampshire, Santorum called for a “preemptive strike” following a less than conclusive IAEA report on Iran’s nuclear program.
“As I’ve sat and watched this play out on the world stage, I have seen a president who has been reticent,” the former Pennsylvania senator said from the AIPAC stage in the nation’s capitol while the other candidates remained on the campaign trial.
Mitt Romney delivered a satellite video speech to the convention. He promised that if he becomes president he will stand with Israel “in all conditions.” Romney said he would end Obama’s “procrastination” on confronting Iran by imposing further draconian sanctions. “I will make sure Iran knows of the very real peril that awaits if it becomes nuclear,” he said.
“As president, I will be ready to engage in diplomacy. But I will be just as ready to engage our military might,” Romney said.
Newt Gingrich also addressed the convention via satellite link from his home state of Georgia. He criticized Clinton’s State Department for its policy on Iran and characterized U.S. intelligence as “timid.”

Ron Paul Is Being Cheated Out Of The Republican Nomination

“Ron Paul is winning! Yet, the Republican elite want nothing to do with him. Why? They are afraid of the truth.” –KTRN
Despite his runaway success in terms of straw poll victories, campaign contributions and grass roots energy, a plethora of evidence strongly indicates that Ron Paul is being cheated out of winning any of the Republican caucuses, with the GOP establishment desperate to prevent the Texan Congressman from building any kind of momentum that the likes of Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have been afforded.
Even the establishment media is now being forced to report that “Ron Paul Might Have Won Maine,” with evidence of potential vote fraud targeted against Ron Paul prompting the state’s GOP chairman Charles Webster to ask for a recount.
With just 84 per cent of the votes being counted, and with many towns and counties showing strong support for Ron Paul having not yet cast their votes, the media along with the Republican establishment brazenly declared Mitt Romney to be the winner, despite him having just a 194 vote lead over Ron Paul.
Erroneous reports of a snowstorm were cited as a pretext to cancel the caucus in Washington County, an area heavily dominated by Paul supporters, delaying the vote for a week. Voters in the county are still waiting to cast their ballots.
“That’s right. A prediction of 3-4 inches–that turned into nothing more than a dusting–was enough for a local GOP official to postpone the caucuses just so the results wouldn’t be reported tonight,” spokesman Gary Howard wrote in an E-mail to supporters, adding that even the local Girl Scouts’ meeting survived the weather.
Local reporters in Maine also revealed how the vote for most Waldo County towns was entered as “0”, as if no one had turned out to vote.
Rachel Maddow expanded on the reports in a feature on MSNBC, pointing out that when one town in Waldo attempted to call in its results, State officials said they already had results from the town showing Romney had won, when in reality that wasn’t the case and in fact Ron Paul had won.
The controversy in Maine follows the admitted mistake in Iowa where Mitt Romney was announced as the winner and yet a later recount found that Rick Santorum had actually beaten him. The kind of momentum Santorum was allowed to build as a result of that revision is unlikely to be afforded to Ron Paul in Maine.

Ron Paul Vs. Barack Obama Election Would Be Tight Race

Lake Jackson – Who says Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul is unelectable? In a hypothetical matchup, a new survey suggests that the libertarian-leaning representative is in a statistical tie with President Barack Obama.
The latest polls show that three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul will not win the state of Florida. Although Dr. Paul is hardly campaigning in the state, he is generally polling in double digits and is fighting for the third spot with former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.
A new article from the Christian Science Monitor pondered the likelihood that Paul could garner more delegates than former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Santorum this week because he has focused his campaign in Maine and Nevada, which have their caucuses on Saturday.
A poll released Monday may give him momentum ahead of the caucuses in February.
According to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll, in a hypothetical matchup between the Texas congressman and President Barack Obama, it would be too close to call. In the general election among national registered voters, Paul would garner 46 percent of the vote, while the incumbent president would have 49 percent.
However, the gap widens when the poll reflects swing-state registered voters in which the president gains 50 percent of the vote compared to Paul’s 43 percent.
