Your Country is Dying And It Wants To Take You With It

The Dollar Vigilante

By Jeff Berwick

We are nearing the end of the grand experiment in nation-states, democracy and socialism. In case you hadn’t noticed, it failed miserably. Hundreds of millions were killed in wars engendered by nation states and made possible by fiat currencies and countless more were impoverished by the central banks instituted by the state. Riots and protests around the globe from Rome, to Egypt to nearly every major city in the US now attest to that.

Countries, however, are like living organisms and they will do almost anything to stay alive. They have always treated their tax-slaves (citizens) as milk cows and they will treat them as beef cows if worse comes to worse.

It is for this reason that it is more important than ever to both understand what is really going on – hint: whatever the government or what the newsreaders on your nightly news say is not what is really going on. It is also more important than ever to begin to protect yourself from your own government.

HAVING A SECOND PASSPORT GIVES YOU OPTIONS

Last year I got a call from an online brokerage I use in Luxembourg called Internaxx. After having had an account with them for a few years they called to let me know they’d be closing my account immediately.

I asked the obvious question: Why??

The lady replied that Internaxx had recently been bought out by a Canadian brokerage, TD Waterhouse, and since I was registered with Internaxx as a Canadian citizen (I was born in Canada and have a Canadian passport) that Canadian laws state that no Canadian stock brokerage can accept a Canadian client when it is operating outside of the country!

So, even though I thought I was safely away from the criminal Canadian Government’s rules and regulations in Luxembourg, all it took was for a Canadian company to buy that brokerage and all of a sudden I was persona non grata.

Luckily, and smartly, for me, I have another passport and so I said to the lady, “I am also a citizen of XXX country, could you unregister me as being Canadian and put me down as being from that country?”

She said yes. So, I didn’t have to go through the hassle of moving my account elsewhere. But, it just goes to show the benefit of having alternative citizenship – preferably in a country that does not have the resources nor the ability to police you around the world.

Sure, this time they were only looking to close my account. But, with all western governments drowning in debt, the next time it could be to impose an asset tax or even to seize my assets.

GOLDMONEY CLOSES DUTCH ACCOUNTS

Recently, a similar thing happened to Dutch citizens who held money or gold with Goldmoney.com in England or Switzerland.

Goldmoney.com sent a notice to all of its Dutch clients stating that their accounts would be immediately closed because the Netherlands financial regulator had deemed Goldmoney.com was “offering investment objects in the Netherlands without a licence.”

A licence, for those that don’t know, is a form of extortion done by criminal organizations such as governments or mafia to get you to pay for something you don’t need nor want.

Nonetheless, Goldmoney.com felt obligated to close all the accounts for Dutch citizens instead of facing the wrath of the Dutch Government.

Again, it was only to close accounts this time. But as things continue to collapse you will want to have options with other passports in order to evade the attempts by your own government of seizing your assets.

A SECOND PASSPORT IS MANDATORY FOR SAFETY

We consider holding at least one other passport as important as any other facet of your financial portfolio for the coming years. Leaving yourself at the whim and control of one government, especially if it is one of the heavily indebted western governments (which is almost all of them), is tantamount to playing russian roulette with your assets.

It is for this reason we recommend that people look to get at least one other foreign passport – and preferably from a government that is not intricately tied to the western financial system nor heavily indebted.

For this reason we have identified two countries which not only offer a passport without you having to live there but also offer it for very cheap by international standards. It takes about three years to get each but you will have residency nearly immediately after your first application which could help you organize your assets in the meantime.

The two countries we prefer and have covered heavily in The Dollar Vigilante for subscribers are the Dominican Republic and Paraguay. We have set-up a custom service to help get you a passport in either of those regions as quickly and easily as possible. You can find more info on the Dominican Republic passport service here and the Paraguay service here.

NO INCOME TAX AND OTHER BENEFITS OF FOREIGN RESIDENCY & CITIZENSHIP

Of course, having foreign residency and citizenship can have many other benefits as well.

For those who earn income over the internet or from outside of your home country attaining foreign residency could reduce your income tax dramatically, even to zero if you set it up properly. Paraguay, as example, has no income tax. And the Dominican Republic only charges income tax on income made in the Dominican Republic. Check with a tax advisor before making any decisions but residency in locales such as these can possibly save you a lot in taxes – all legally.

As well, should you wish to leave your country and reside somewhere for an extended period, having your residency or citizenship in a foreign country makes it all the easier. The Dominican Republic and Paraguay are both civilized, modern, beautiful places to live.

IT’S ALL HAPPENED BEFORE

Preparing now for what is obviously coming only makes sense.

It’s not like any of this is new. The US Government forced Americans to turn in their gold to the government in 1933. In Ireland they have begun charging an annual “asset tax” on all pensions. And, in Hungary, some pensions were already seized and forced to invest in government bonds. This is the likely tact of the US Government in the near future as they begin to run out of creditors other than the Federal Reserve. They will likely look first to nationalize 401k’s and IRA’s and force them into buying government “patriot bonds”… for the greater good, of course.

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

We think the phrase, “better safe than sorry”, is widely overused (see “Being Better Safe Than Sorry”) but in this particular instance we think it is wiser to take precautions than to leave everything up to chance.

If the western financial system implodes in an organized and structured manner then it may turn out that having a foreign passport wasn’t a necessity. However, if it implodes in a chaotic way – which is the way these systems always collapse – when the time comes that some countries institute capital controls and begin to seize their citizens assets you will be very thankful that you took a small amount of time and money to set yourself up with a second citizenship whereby you have a much better chance of protecting your assets from your own government.

As of July 1, the recent outbreak of E. coli in Germany, linked to contaminated sprouts, has caused at least 49 deaths and more than 4,100 illnesses in the European Union, and has once again highlighted immense problems with food safety.

The E. coli bacteria strain, O104:H4, found in the sprouts eaten by all of those who became ill was unusually deadly. A Lancet study reasoned this was due to the bacteria’s ability to release Shiga toxin, which can cause hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) leading to kidney failure and death, as well as its ability to stick to intestinal cells. But another factor involved was the fact that the E. coli was resistant to most antibiotics.

This is certainly not a problem unique to Germany. In fact, in the United States the excessive use of antibiotics in food production has lead to the creation of a new generation of hard-to-eradicate human diseases.

Why is the United States a Prime Breeding Ground for Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria?

The New York Times reported this really shocking statistic, the state of North Carolina uses more antibiotics for livestock production than the entire United States uses for humans.  Chickens, cattle and hogs are fed antibiotics not on a case-specific basis to treat disease, but indiscriminately to make them grow faster — which increases profit margins for livestock producers — and prevent disease from teeming in filthy conditions. Industrial farmers literally add antibiotics to livestock’s food and water, so they are all medicated.

What’s wrong with this picture?

Dems Cut Food Stamps To Bail Out Teachers

Fox News

Some House Democrats and advocacy groups are getting squeamish about the move to fund the $26 billion jobs bill by making cuts to food stamps, a federal assistance program currently depended on by nearly 41 million Americans.

Some Democrats are upset and advocacy groups are outraged over the raiding of the food-stamp cupboard to fund a state-aid bailout that some call a gift to teachers and government union workers.

House members convened Tuesday and passed the multibillion-dollar bailout bill for cash-strapped states that provides $10 billion to school districts to rehire laid-off teachers or ensure that more teachers won’t be let go before the new school year begins, keeping more than 160,000 teachers on the job, the Obama administration says.

But the bill also requires that $12 billion be stripped from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps, to help fund the new bill, prompting some Democrats to cringe at the notion of cutting back on one necessity to pay for another. The federal assistance program currently helps 41 million Americans.

Arguably one of the most outspoken opponents on the Democratic side is Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro, who has blasted the move as “a bitter pill to swallow” but still voted yes.

“I fought very hard for the food assistance money in the Recovery Act, and the fact is that participation in the food stamps program has jumped dramatically with the economic crisis, from 31.1 million persons to 38.2 million just in one year,” DeLauro said in an e-mail sent to FoxNews.com. “But I know that states across the nation and my own state of Connecticut also desperately need these resources to save jobs and avoid Draconian cuts to essential services for low income families.”

The Houston Chronicle reported Tuesday that several state advocacy groups, including the Texas Food Book Network and the Houston Food Bank, rallied for House members to strike down the legislation, which passed 247-161 in the House. Three Democrats voted against the measure, while two Republicans voted in support of it.

Democratic rank and file members, including Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, say the cuts won’t take effect until 2014 and will merely return food stamp benefits to pre-stimulus levels.

The Food Research and Action Center said a family of four would see benefits drop about $59 per month starting in 2014.

“While we support the education initiatives (in the bill), we adamantly oppose using food stamps to pay for them,” said James Weill, president of the Food Research and Action Center. “The rain on food stamps to pay for other things absolutely has to stop and stop now.”

According to U.S. Department of Agriculture figures, the number of people on the food stamp rolls has been growing to record levels for 18 straight months. Nearly $5.5 billion in aid went out to beneficiaries in May alone. The number of May recipients marked a 19 percent increase from a year ago and the USDA projects that next year’s enrollment will reach about 43.4 million.

Republicans, meanwhile, vocally opposed the state aid bill. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told Fox News it rewarded “irresponsible states” and their unions.

“It is basically taxpayers from fiscally (responsible) states bailing out fiscally irresponsible states. … Medicaid funding, teacher funding, the more popular of the public unions, what this is, it’s a bailout to prevent states from doing the necessary spending prioritization that they need do,” he said.

The Obama administration pushed hard for the $26 billion bill. The White House argued that it is essential to protecting 300,000 teachers and other nonfederal government workers from election-year layoffs and will not add to the national deficit.

“If we do nothing, these educators won’t be returning to the classroom this fall, and that won’t just deprive them of a paycheck, it will deprive the children and parents who are counting on them to provide a decent education,” Obama said in the White House Rose Garden shortly before the bill passed on Tuesday.

“This proposal is fully paid for, in part by closing tax loopholes that encourage corporations that ships American jobs overseas. So it will not add to our deficit,” he said. “And the money will only go toward saving the jobs of teachers and other essential professionals…I urge members of both parties to come together and get this done, so that I can sign this bill into law.”

37 States Join Probe Into Google Wi-Spy Collection

A multistate investigation is raising more questions about how Google Inc. may have improperly gathered people’s private information through their unsecured wireless networks while collecting data for its Street View feature.

Connecticut Atty. Gen. Richard Blumenthal, who has been leading the month-old investigation, sent a third letter to Google on Wednesday asking, among other things, whether it had tested the feature’s software before putting it to use. Doing so, he said, should have uncovered any glitches responsible for the unwarranted collection of e-mails, passwords and other personal data of those who failed to protect their networks with passwords.

“Google’s responses continue to generate more questions than they answer,” he said in a statement. “Now the question is how it may have used — and secured — all this private information.”

Blumenthal, who is running for Sen. Christopher J. Dodd’s seat, also said that attorneys general from 37 states and the District of Columbia have officially joined the probe, including those from Texas, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Massachusetts. Eight states would not be identified because their laws bar them from disclosing investigations, he said.

The office of California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown has not yet responded to a question about whether the state is a participant.

“As we’ve said before, it was a mistake for us to include code in our software that collected payload data, but we believe we did nothing illegal,” a spokesperson for Mountain View, Calif.-based Google said in a statement. “We’re continuing to work with the relevant authorities to answer their questions and concerns.”

The investigation, which follows similar probes in Germany and Australia, is also considering whether federal and state laws need to be changed or updated as a preventative measure.

The Street View function was launched in 2007 and since expanded to most major cities in the U.S, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. It uses vehicles to photograph street layouts in every direction to give Web users a 360-degree view of streets and roadways.

But the vehicles were also equipped to detect Wi-Fi access points, which Google hadn’t disclosed until recently, in order to help computers figure out where they are without having to use a GPS system.

At the same time, Google said it mistakenly picked up 600 gigabytes of data from unsecured networks over the last three years.

BPA Plastics Chemical Linked To Asthma

(NaturalNews) The controversial chemical bisphenol-A (BPA), already linked to a wide array of health problems, may also increase the risk of asthma in children, according to a study conducted by researchers from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston and published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives.

BPA is an industrial chemical widely used in the manufacture of hard, clear plastics like those used in water and baby bottles, as well as in resins used to line cans of food, beverages and infant formula. Exposure has been linked to an increased risk of cancer, heart disease, birth defects, and hormonal and reproductive problems. Its use in products for young children has been banned in a number of countries and in three U.S. states.

After years of insisting that the chemical was safe, the FDA recently changed its position and called for more research.

Doctors Test Cure For Peanut Allergy

(NaturalNews) Doctors from Cambridge University are testing a technique that they believe may functionally cure people who suffer from inconvenient and dangerous peanut allergies, researcher Andrew Clark announced at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in San Diego.

Clark and colleagues have had success in a pilot study of their technique, which involves giving children slowly increasing doses of peanut flour. They emphasized that trials are only in an early stage, however, and that people should not try the technique at home without the supervision of a doctor.

More than 1.5 million people in the United States suffer from peanut or other tree nut allergies, and the number appears to be rising. These allergies can be so severe that exposure to even trace amounts can send some sufferers into potentially fatal anaphylactic shock, in which their air passages close up and make it impossible to breathe.

95% of ‘Preventitive’ Mastectomies Offer No Benefit

Natural News

(NaturalNews) A new study shows that the increasingly popular practice of “preventive mastectomy” in non-cancerous breasts provides no benefit to the vast majority of women.

“It’s important for women to understand that, except for one subset of breast cancer patients, they don’t need to do this,” said lead author Isabelle Bedrosian of University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. “Hopefully, it’ll reassure patients wondering if they should.”

Approximately 40,000 women die from breast cancer in the United States each year, and another 200,000 cases are diagnosed. Because cancer in one breast is known to increase the risk of cancer recurrence in the other breast, doctors are increasingly recommending that cancer survivors opt to have both breasts removed as a “preventive” measure. And women are opting for it in huge numbers, seeking the peace of mind that it is said to offer.
